Bidding on ebay ends on Thursday, Aug 31.
This motorcycle is #223 out of 500.
One of the most noticeable differences with the Limited Edition model was the use of lightweight Marchesini forged aluminum wheels. These wheels not only reduced the overall weight of the motorcycle but also added a high-performance and exclusive touch.
On top of that, the LE model was equipped with premium Öhlins suspension components, which included front forks and a rear shock. Öhlins is well-known for producing high-quality suspension systems that offer improved performance and adjustability.
And on top of that, it came with a titanium exhaust system, which not only contributed to weight reduction but also enhanced the bike’s exhaust note and performance.
Seller:
0.0 Miles – never ridden. You could be the first. Purchased new in 2006 with the intention of displaying only – never to put on the road. This is as close to new as you can get – just like it rolled off the showroom floor today. Comes with factory tail cover still in the package and R1 LE tool kit.
RSBFS:
Have these Limited Edition Yamahas come of age? Five years ago you could find these for sale and the asking price was trying to get up to the mrsp of $18,000. Here we are in 2023 and the world is a different place.
In 2017, 11 years after its debut, Donn reviewed series number 002 on RSBFS with zero miles while it was selling for $18,000.
Mike also reviewed one on RSBFS in 2017 with only 6 miles and it sold for $12,967.88.
I can remember dragging my girlfriend (now wife) into our local showroom to oogle over this model, thinking that someday this was going to be worth more than the original msrp. Perhaps now is that moment?
A time machine would be beneficial right now. Being a big fan of the yellow and black Yamahas, this bike hits all the marks.
Can’t wait to see what it goes for.

There seems to be a general lack of understanding as to the nature of the economy and the direction things are headed. While I can appreciate such a clean machine there’s not a chance in hell it brings close to that amount.
Always liked this bike. Not just a graphics exercise. Actually had genuine go fast bits. Forged wheels, suspension upgrades, slipper clutch. And it looks like my vision of a quintessential superbike. What a cool machine. Even though it is an antique as technology goes. No electronics. Old school. Real riding skills required to make it deliver.
