A continual fan favorite, the Yamaha FZR400 has long been regarded as one of the best handling motorcycles to come out of Japan. Popular on the racetrack, many of these mid-range Fizzers have lived hard lives. This bike looks to be a bit different, in that it *appears* to be stock and unmolested. If that is the case, this is a pretty rare find indeed!
1988 Yamaha FZR400 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
1988 Yamaha FZR400U First Year USA Edition
Frame Number: JA-000703
Engine Number: 3BF-000703For Your Consideration is this Exceptionally Nice 1988 First Generation, First Year USA, FZR-400 in Great Stock Condition! Only 9K Miles with Matching Frame and Engine Numbers. A very uncommon and especially clean low mile original, show-quality bike!
The bodywork is complete with original paint and graphics. All stock exhaust, intake, frame, suspension, motor, trim, brakes and lines, cables and controls. No fading or yellowing anywhere; the paint, alloy and soft parts are outstanding. The front tire is likely the original Bridgestone Battlax BT45F 110/70-17 54H with about 60% tread remaining, and the rear is a near new, matching, Bridgestone Battlax BT45R 140/70-18 67V. Excellent original chain and sprockets.
While this bike looks to be very, very clean, there are some nits that our readers might notice, and might be willing to comment on. The windscreen appears white in these picture, but that is not how the bike came stock. Also, the front fairing should have red graphics to the left and right of the headlights, below the mirrors. This leads me to believe that some of the bodywork may be reproduction and not stock – not a major issue, but something to consider.
FZR400s are holding decent value – but the best news is that these are downright cheap when it comes to acquisition. Unlike two strokes or rare Italian beasts, little Fizzers are fun AND affordable. Be sure and check this one out. Good Luck!
MI
I am not an expert on the FZR400, but I have an all stock 1989 CA model that I bought in 1992 with 1900 miles on it. I still ride it every day, and it has over 73,000 miles and rides great. My bike is all white on both sides of the mirrors; no red graphics.
Thanks for the comment, Stacy. Nice to know these bikes have longevity as well as good looks and great handling!
Very good looking bike
[…] 1,457 miles, most of those ponies should still be in the stable as well. As Mike pointed out in his recent FZR400 post, the price point is one of the best parts of these under-appreciated little bikes. This one has a […]
