This 1986-88 Suzuki GSX-R 750 RR LTD Yoshimura Tornado is a rare find for any motorcycle enthusiast.
This bike is the culmination of parts sourced back in the 1990s. The bike was originally test assembled and ridden briefly in the early 2000s and then placed into climate controlled indoor storage.
Inspired by a custom GSX-R build featured in Sport Rider Magazine this project started with a nearly complete 1986 LTD that was acquired by me in 1993. Then genuine Yoshimura Tornado kit parts (not Air Tech reproductions) and a 1988 GSX-R 1100 doner bike were sought out for the project.
My plan was to build a big-bore 883 superbike spec LTD engine, in a hybrid LTD/1988 GSX-R1100 chassis with a Tornado/Suzuki GP-inspired custom paint job on the Tornado tank and body kit. (Concept image included for reference)
The bike was taken out of storage recently for evaluation, the carbs were overhauled, fluids changed and engine started. (video).
After almost 20 years of being in storage my riding interests have changed. It is time for this special bike to go to a new enthusiastic owner who will see it to fruition.
