Some of the goodies that came with the LE:
– OHLINS front and rear suspension
– Marchesini wheels
– 20 MM longer swing arm
– Titanium exhaust system
This is the second bike of this line to be listed for sale this week – but there is a big difference between the two specimens. One has zero miles and one has 24k miles. That just means that there are two different buyers.
Niche markets are a way to invest in something that you love. Purchasing a zero mile LE to collect is an investment in your future. Riding a 24k mile LE is an investment in now.
We recently posted one of these with zero miles here on RSBFS (bidding ends tonight). The Buy-It-Now price is $32,499.99. So, this begs the question.
What is the value of a collectable bike with zero miles vs 24,000 miles? (Right now, August 2023)
In this case, theoretically, the difference between zero miles and 24,000 miles is $19,504.99. Neither have sold yet, so this is speculation. What will happen today? What will happen in 5 years? These are the questions.
The link below will take you to a listing for a 2006 Yamaha R1 LE selling for $12,995 with 24,000 miles (at time of listing).
Owner says he rides it every day, so the miles are only going up.
If you like to ride them, not hide them, perhaps this is for you? Everyone else seems to be keeping theirs inside, so what a way to make a statement!

I’ve had a couple of these and liked them a lot. Like everything these days, they seem to be going up in price as the last one I had was $10,000.with 2800 miles. Whatever they sell for now, it’s a great do everything, ride anywhere bike with good components, power and good looks. Great value.
these always seemed to be more of a collectors bike (gotta have the whole set). It kind of reminds me of the Ducati Nieman Marcus edition. Im not saying its not a nice bike, Im just saying if it was the only bike in my garage I wouldnt’ get a james may fizzy root feeling when I walked in and saw it sitting there…
It is interesting and fun to see the direction.
