A bike with skinny tires and a wide powerband, the Fabio Taglioni-designed Ducati TT2 bears a passing resemblance to the roadgoing F1, but was tuned to perfection, utilizing a philosophy that resulted in a lightweight, very nimble package with a broad spread of useable power that made it ideal for roadcourses.
Displacement was up slightly compared to the stock Pantah to 597cc and the carefully-prepared engine put 78hp through a 5-speed and dry clutch.
The Verlicchi frame that surrounded the fuel tank weighed a featherweight 15 pounds and the entire bike weighed in at just 326 pounds dry, including a starter and battery. Wheels were generally 18″ although quick-turning 16″ could be specified if the rider preferred and a fully-adjustable Marzocchi fork was up front with a Paoli shock at the rear of the monoshock frame and the resulting package was very competitive.

Super deal!
Race, parade and collect!
This example is a bit rough around the edges, but that’s pretty par for the course with a race bike: they generally weren’t finished to a high standard in the first place, and racetrack use isn’t exactly kind to cosmetics.
According to the seller, this bike is currently in the UK, but that shouldn’t present any difficulties for a determined buyer interested in a piece of racing history.
