31 years away from being new, this 1982 Ducati is a classic bike that still looks great. Reported as original paint and sitting just shy of 24,000 miles, this bike offers traditional cafe racer styling with loads of collector bike appeal. With an air cooled, desmo L-twin engine, this model was one of the last of the bevels ahead of the stunning Pantah.
From the seller:
Classic extreme machine! original paint has some body scuffing on the tank and light nicking along the inside edge of the front fender, otherwise for 30 year old paint its awsome! this machine dont look 5 years old!.runs drives like new. prestine collectors bike. near showroom condition.letting the pics do the talking,,,,,,
This bike is available right now in Massachusetts. Since winter is finally over and the time to ride has come, why not ride something cool and different? This beautiful 900SS certainly fits the bill. Bidders are slowly turning out for this one, with the current bid at $12,600, no reserve in place, and several days left to play. Click the link and check it out here. Good Luck!

Here’s a great example of how NOT to properly market a rare bike. That cop out phrase “letting the pics speak for themselves” is always a huge warning to any potential bidders. In this case, your poorly lighted, poorly composed and flashy pics tell us nothing about the mechanical condition of the bike and it’s maintenance history. Those are absolutely the critical things about a vintage bevel drive Ducati- not the paint. We just get “runs great”. Really? That’s it? 24K miles and nothing offered about oil leaks, valve adjustments, possible lower end bearing rumble, top end health (leakdown/compression numbers, rocker arm surfaces) on a motor that can easily cost upwards of $10K to make right. Pics speak for themselves about electrical system, frame and suspension condition? Why would any intelligent bidder put thousands on the line based on this lacking and amateur presentation? Utter fail.
Alfieri. Its a bevel drive 900ss. All the seller needs to do is post a picture and say “for sale” and big dollar bids will roll in. It seems this model is thee vintage motorcycle to have right now. Sadly they are selling for crazy money now (bidding at $15k+, no reserve) regardless of condition.
Jess. You are correct, and I see your point. I am aware of the seller’s market for any bevel drive Ducati, but I am also well aware of the many weaknesses in the motor, electrical system, carburetion, etc. To purchase a 24K mile bevel drive with no maintenance history leaves a buyer very vulnerable to huge potential expenses- if the bike was perfect, or rebuilt, or maintained by an expert, he would have mentioned that. It only takes one mechanical flaw to make this “investment” a losing proposition. And Alfieri hate thick automotive fuel line on motorbikes!
uhhh alfred!
what a jerk! I am not some sleek salsman trying to get every penny out of some fellow admirer! i’m a regular guy who has no idea what the bike is worth! what a fool! you think everyone is a bike GURU? take a hike loser! keep your “know it all” opinions to yourself and stop trying to wreck an innocent guys chance to get what he can for a bike he has cherrished for over 20 years!
Welcome to RSBFS Paul. Looks like there is some good interest on your bike. As Jess commented above, these bevels are in high demand today and you should be able to score top dollar for this machine. Good Luck with the sale! -Mike
