Following the even lower miles Ducati 851 we posted the other day, here is another virtually unused Ducati superbike. This one is typically even lower on the desirability scale than even the 851, especially since it’s not the uprated S model. But with just 60 miles on the clock and the reserve met at a mere $6,200, I think you’d be hard pressed to better for less even if some refreshing is in order.

2001 Ducati 748 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
This 2001 Ducati 748 Monoposto
This is a brand new bike.it only has 61 miles on it and I put most of those on it. What can I say it speaks for it self it is a flawless beautiful bike that has been crated its whole life until last week when I opened it.
Oh, dear! There was an error in the listing! And it’s gone.
Odd. You’d think that instead of riding it 60 miles immediately after uncrating it, he’d sell it for considerably more money as a 0-miler. That really just strikes me as odd.
Yes, very odd. Scottsdale is not far from me, I was considering a see looks. I really like the yellow 748. Don’t see too many around here. To get one in this condition, for that price, I’m there. Oh well.
you can come see it any time you like and why do you find it odd to want to ride it to check it out and if 3 miles or 60 miles makes a difference in price then you guys are pretty anal. Ride the damn bikes that’s what their made for!!!! The crate is still sitting in my driveway. I pulled the add because of the shear number of stupid questions id rather just keep it rather than go thru that crap again
and that’s suppose to mean what exactly
Craig,
Either you want to sell the bike or not? I sent you a message and a phone number and was a very serious buyer? You didn’t respond. I’m not sure why you are mad at people for asking some questions? It’s not everyday you see a freshly uncrated 60 mile 748 from a private party with no explanation as to how you got it? If everything checked out I was willing to purchase it. This is what people do before they spend thousands of dollars on a bike from a “guy” in AZ.
Craig, the point of 0-mile vs 60-mile has nothing to do with you per se. It’s just an observation that those 60 miles represent a huge hit against the collectability of the bike and the loss of thousands of dollars on the value. A 0-mile bike in the crate would have a number of collectors reaching for tissues to clean up the mess they just made. A 60-miler, not quite so much.
YMMV, IMO and all that. 🙂
Michael Yes it is true I wety my pants myself when I saw the bike ….wow just the sight of her shinny and new ive always wanted that vintage bike but one that was untouched by someone putting lights on it and tearing into the harness. or trying to do there own mechanical and not knowing what there doing and someone down the road pays for there mistake after buying it that sort of thing. I responded to EVERY LEGIT EMAIL that I received if you sent me your name and number we spoke. Quetions are good as long as they don’t insult your intelligence like “will it run on unleaded gas being so old” I’m sorry but I draw a line in the sand on that. As for the 0 miles vs 60 miles MY BAD in the back of my head I kinda new this I can’t lie about that but also I wanted to keep this bike for my own and I wanted to ride this bike I COULDNT RESIST I don’t know how you guys do this……….in as having these bikes and not just wanting to ride them………….my hat is off to you that do you are a stone, a rock of willpower I cave in and couldn’t resist and the call of RIDE ME….not sure what YMMV, IMO means but if you explained it I would
Best wishes to all for a happy holidays Craig
Hey, Craig. 🙂
YMMV = Your mileage may vary
IMO = In my opinion
In other words, I’m just sharing my thoughts and not calling you wrong in any regard. I’m not a collector and there’s no way I could own a bike and not ride it. 🙂
Thanks for the explination Trane. I still am not sure what to do with it my wife says no because I have 6 other bikes as well and if I could make money on it I would I guess so if the right offer comes along I would sell it. But thanks and a happy holidays to you and your family
Craig, I meant no disrespect. The odd part that left us wondering was why the listing was removed. I personalty don’t blame you for riding the bike, if I bought it that is exactly what I would do with it. With a big smile on my face! Sorry collectors, I’m one of those guys too.
Thanks Chris I appreciate you having the balls to stand up and say what’s real. and that was a real comment, I just love riding sport bikes I’m over 50 yrs old and have been riding since a kid. I got pulled over about 2 months ago by 2 motorcycle cops (yes I was speeding …..right oh snap) so I didn’t have a chance to loose them ( no I would never) anyhow I pulled over and they were in their 40’s id say and the one that stayed to write the ticket said when I got off the bike and took my helmet off ” WOW your a little old to be riding a bike like that” ….well I took offense to that and said “well your no spring chicken yourself mother Fu@#^er” well he started laughing right when the van pulled up and the driver asked if I was going to jail since 148 mph is a felony here in AZ he looked at me then back at the jail bound van and said “not today” and as the sign of release came off my shoulders I gladly excepted the ticket and went on my way. Moral of the story you don’t have to be young to love riding sport bikes and when you get pulled over……..speak profanity at the cop you might get a break …LOL
