When it comes to bikes that generate a lot of interest on RSBFS, few can rival the RC30. Known in Honda parlance as the VFR750R and originally available in trim levels specific to Japan, Europe and North America, the RC30 was a homologated version of the dominant race bike of its era. While many will point to the Ducati 916 as the iconic sport bike, the RC30 continues to draw the sort of stares, lust and money unknown this side of a Supermono. The bikes are relatively few, the interest is always very high, and bargains can be found ever so occasionally. We here on Rare are lucky enough to count several RC30 aficionados as regular contributors, and as always we look forward to comments and insights on this particular example. Presented by a dealer, located in Colorado, and looking clean but not perfectly minty, this RC30 shows fewer than 7,500 miles on the clock. Check it out, and then check back here and share your thoughts. If you have RC30s on the brain, is this the one you want?

If you have interest in this bike, make sure to inquire if the frame has been replaced. This dealer has been holding onto one that is exactly that.
Oh, no- not this one again. Perhaps the dealer is hoping eBayers forgot about the last time it was listed. Too bad the previous comments aren’t pulled up here- I don’t have the time too go over the bike again and list the 8 or 9 things I noticed that are wrong, questionable, or missing in the written description. And just about everything a buyer would want to know is missing in the written description- marketing fail, big time. A bidder would be a fool to offer big money without inspecting this example in person with a knowledgeable RC30 owner, spending time looking under the fairings and asking questions.
Lots of questions.
When I first noticed this listing, I went to the dealers website to look up more info. First off it’s really vague on the details which already scared me away but worse then that, they have a $28,999 price on it. Ummmmm.. Yeah….good luck! If it had next to no miles, museum quality or perhaps fully documented I assume it could hit the mid 20’s but almost $30K..? No thanks.
thats surprising, the guys out at faymeyers in Denver are usually pretty good to deal with. I bought a Mondial Piegga from them last year with no issues, they also have supermono and the oval pistoned Honda thing (which I cant remember is called right now).
Oh well, I couldnt afford it anyway.

For the RC30 gurus on the discussion. On the front fairing there are two small holes below the mounting screw and between the twin headlights. I’ve noticed that on several RC30 in pics and a few in person these holes seem irregular and not “molded” perfectly round holes. Some almost look like they’ve been hand cut. Is that normal or am I seeing just rogue bodywork. And is there a reason these holes remain open versus plugged with small black caps like those on the side fairing? Just curious. Thanks.
An NR750 (oval piston)? How do you make a drool emoticon? :-)~
Those two holes are just for access to the Phillips screws behind that adjust/aim the headlights. The two holes you should really wonder about are the ones I called attention to the first time this was listed- the ones on the right side upper fairing, next to the radiator hose in the painted light blue section. There are supposed to be two black retaining pins there holding a inner rubber flap that shields the fairing from the radiator hose. It’s missing. Why? Well, look closely and you can see evidence of thick clear coat and ragged holes, as though someone repainted the upper fairing, but left out the five parts (two black pins, two retaining washers, the rubber flap) there required on assembly. Nit picky? Guilty. But it’s a subtle but noticeable “tell” to anyone who knows these bikes, and calls for a thorough close look to see what else has been repainted or repaired, why, and how well.
Well……listing pulled off Ebay shortly after a few of these posts. lol
Still on Craigslist though…………..$27,999
Cheers.
Lot’s of arm chair RC30 experts here i see. I have had someone ride the bike and have seen the bike up close and spoken to the owner. It checks out. I’m leaving the details out.
