It’s not an ultra rare CR93 and it’s not dripping with parts from one but damn it, this thing has just enough ‘cool factor’. From the sound of it, it’s not even a finished project so you can still have a little say.

I know, this isn’t as bonerific as a CR93 engine. The real deal made under 20HP and had a red line of 13,500.
It sounds like the Holy Grail for collectors of the CR93 is the street version. Known to few people at the time, they made 20 street versions.
The auction is up and running here.

I would rather have a 2 stroke with some performance, as a good riding lawn mower would outperform this bike, I like the looks of it though.
Hey Jimbo. Give the owner a break. It’s pretty cool and whether it be this bike, a moped, or a 175 hp modern sport bike someone will enjoy it. Do you own anything better that is better than this? Or cooler? John Deere or Craftsman do not count.
Gentlemen, gentlemen- please put aside your bickering and trash talk. The bigger issue is what the deal is with this bike. Stored 9 years, never tracked or raced, never completed or started- then why is it pictured with a battery attached? Problems sorting the ignition system? Who knows if all of that extensive engine work is even correctly done and if it’ll run?
It may be that a lawnmower will beat this. But if you do not know about it, you should get familiar with the F-160 racing in the Northwest. These guys are building and running these machines in very competitive races, for pretty low bucks. More importantly, it’s really fun
I know they also race riding lawn mowers, Seems to me, a good ten speed bicycle would be more fun to race. To me, if your going to race something, why race one of the slowest bikes ever made? Why not race a race bike, or at least something fast? Waste of time and money.
This bike is pile of crap put together by a amateur who could not get it running. The tank and seat are the only things of value on this bike, the rest is worth $200. I would love to own one the original Honda factory race bikes, but not this junk.
Pretty harsh words and critisism there Jimbo . You have a bone up your ass against this guy , or what ? Some of us I am sure think he’s done pretty well with what he’s got . Can you say the same ? What have you done lately ? Impress us !
Very cool. Whoever built this, absolutely knew something about early vintage Honda racing motorcycles. While it’s certainly not close to being a real CR 93, it does capture the overall look of what one looks like and some of the detail of the build is close to correct. Pretty fun little bike I’d say after you complete it and it may not be too far from finished. If you would like to see a real one, try Barber or the motorcycle museum in Solvang CA. If you’de like to buy a real one give RMD Motors a call, I think they have one for sale. $$$$$ Honey???… where’s the check book?
In the 60’s, Soichiro Honda built his co and business model around his racing effort with bikes like six cylinder 250cc and 350cc. RC 166, RC174’s, 250cc CR 72’s, and little CR 93’s. They (CR 93’s) could be bought directly from Honda and came with a spares kit to boot.
Would this thing be fast? Of course not….but that’s not the point.
Wow Jimbo angry much?
Maybe you’re just pissed that you have to rebuild the top end on a 2 stroke more often than you full the tank.
It’s a 40 year old engine, go find a 40 year old lawn mower to race against it
