Interesting but it occurs to me that it’s pretty much like an RZ350 in configuration and probably capability?
Aaron –
RZ350 – 52 hp at 8750 RPM. 121-ish mph with stock gearing. 370lbs
TZ250 – 76 hp at 11,750 RPM (it actually jumps from 51ish bhp at 10,500 rpm to 76 bph at 11,750 rpm, talk about a powerband!). 150-ish mph. 238lbs.
a TZ250 in race spec will stomp all over an RZ350
I believe the Harris frame is much lighter and stronger than the RZ frame is.
I have a Yamaha TZ250 4DP that I run in track days in the NorthEast. I am far from an expert rider. But there has never been an RZ350 at the same track that I could not toast. The litre bikes are much harder. Found the best way to compete is to simply not slow down for corners, but pass everybody on the outside. No inside corner passing on trackdays.
I believe that Jess is correct about Harris frames. But I do not believe that I could tell the difference between them.
Mike G – wow, Thks – my RZ has pipes and filter and jets, supposed to make 65 hp, feels like it, and I thought it was 340 but “irregardless” (bad spelling on purpose) the TZ would be crazy at the numbers for hp and weight and rpm you quote….
We are looking for a TZ250s/t read valve assembly and a crankshaft fit this model. The bike has been sitting for years and unfortunately water got into the right side and destroyed the Reed cage and badly rusted right side of the crank
