In the early 90s, Ducati took the motorcycle world by storm when they introduced the Monster, a groundbreaking model that combined a sporty frame with a straightforward engine design. This innovative concept would go on to define the naked bike segment for years to come. Fast forward to 2008, and Ducati took the Monster to new heights with the S4RS, which boasted impressive technical specifications.
At the heart of the 2008 Ducati S4RS roared a formidable 130-horsepower, liquid-cooled, four-valve superbike powerplant. This powerhouse engine, paired with a svelte 390-pound chassis, delivered exhilarating performance. Ensuring exceptional braking capability, the S4RS featured radially mounted Brembo calipers. The bike’s agility was further enhanced by its lightweight wheels and top-tier Ohlins superbike suspension. These technical marvels might lead one to mistake the S4RS for a full-fledged homologation race bike rather than an upright two-seat naked motorcycle.
Each S4RS model was adorned with a unique numbered plate, signifying its limited production status. The exact production numbers have been a topic of debate among enthusiasts, with speculations ranging from 400 bikes for the USA, the global market, or perhaps serving as a marketing strategy by the Italian manufacturer. Regardless, this numbered edition was the proverbial cherry on top of an undeniably desirable motorcycle.
From the seller:
Price: $16,695 USD
One owner bike!Mileage: 5,660 U.S. miles
VIN#: ZDM1RB5T88B112302Following the Ducati color scheme of the F1, 750 and 851 model Sportbikes, the 2008 Ducati Monster S4R S Tricolore wedged the 998 Testastretta 4-Valve Superbike engine into the “Naked” chassis of the Monster, creating the Monster Superbike, the SR4 S.
Books and websites are devoted to this model of bike and are better equipped to talk details and design specifics than anything I can pretend to rehash. What is important and different about this particular one owner motorcycle is its condition and history from day one. I have attempted to present the details and condition of the bike in images on the site, scanning paperwork that accompanies it.
The Monster was purchased new from Hansen’s BMW/Ducati/Triumph/KTM in 2008 by a local enthusiast who added most of the 5600 miles to the bike in the first years of ownership. In 2015 the valves were checked and timing belt replaced, less than 1,000 miles prior to being offered for sale as can be seen on the attached work order along with other service work done.
As do all Ducati motorcycle owners, our seller went nuts with the Carbon bits and trinkets. In the day, there probably was not a single part more he could have purchased. The Termignoni Exhaust came with its own EMC, installed at the same time as the system was bolted on. What is completely different about all of this farkle is every stock part was retained and boxed as can be seen in the images
