Suzuki built this one to celebrate the millionth GSX-R rolling off the line. Worldwide production was capped at 1,985 units, and Suzuki only brought about 1,000 of them to America. So the seller’s “only 1000 made” isn’t off, it’s just talking US allocation instead of the global number. Either way, you’re not tripping over these at track days.
The visual cues are subtle if you don’t know what you’re looking at: red nose as a nod to the old Bol d’Or racers, gold forks, red fork caps and shock spring, black Brembo calipers with red lettering, and a numbered plaque on the top clamp. Mechanically it’s the same GSX-R1000 as any other ’13, so this isn’t about horsepower, it’s about having one of the thousand.
We featured one of these before, an unmolested low-mile example that told its own story with barely any seller info. Worth a look for more background on the model. This one’s the opposite end of the spectrum: 10,500 miles, Yoshimura full-length headers, and a Power Commander to sort the fueling. Somebody’s actually ridden this thing, not just parked it under a cover.
That’s the fork in the road with a limited edition. Bone stock keeps it a time capsule. A pipe and a PC make it a better bike to actually ride, but you’re trading away originality on something Suzuki only made a thousand of for this country. Neither choice is wrong. This one just tells you which owner it had.
