Sometimes the mission requires a scalpel rather than the usual Swiss army knife, and if you’re planning that kind of ride, today’s feature might be your weapon. Presented by RSBFS reader Russ, it has a very original and excellent appearance, with enough km that the next owner will be able to ride without upsetting a curator.
1992 Honda NSR250R SP Rothmans asking $16,625
The MC21 had the most years of NSR250R manufacture (1990-93) and encompassed the sweet spot of v-twin features, with air-adjustable forks and the PGM-III electronically controlled power valve. For 1992 an asymmetrical “gull arm” rear made room for the expansion chamber to pass under the monoshock. The SP option included a close-ratio gearbox and dry clutch. Factory Rothmans livery is actually a very nice take on HRC’s NSR500 MotoGP paint.
Russ’s description –
1992 NSR250R(8N) SP Rothmans MC21 1061611 13,297 km.
Imported from Japan July 2018 (by me) with 11,475 km.
Clear Washington state title in my name.
Excellent stock condition.Original OEM Honda fairings.
Starts easy, runs fantastic, and everything functions.
Local riding from house only, no track time, and always garaged.A few blemishes / wear from its 26 year life in Japan.
Many more pictures available upon request. This was a bucket list bike for me.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, but I don’t ride it enough to justify ownership.
One thing left out of Russ’s notes is the conspicuous lack of surface corrosion, indicating inside storage during most of its days. Since the NSR250R was never offered here, each one has a background story, mercifully short in this case. Many were overused as intended in the home market, so an example that hasn’t been beat on is nice to see.
Russ asks $16,625 for his NSR250R. Update: it sold Nov 2. Congratulations to buyer and Russ.
