Born of the internet at the turn of the century, the Ducati MH900e was a revolutionary bike and sales concept. Offered in limited numbers via the internet only and sold out in a single day, the bike offered a modern outlook on the earlier Mike Hailwood tribute machines. This is a very unique motorcycle, and prices have been on the rise for many years.
This particular bike has what you would expect from a collector; low miles and a Termi exhaust (check out those welds!). It looks pretty; find a room and park it. Other than that, what do you do with this type of artwork? It’s not really a track day bike (although likely performs adequately), it is certainly not a touring rig, and while fully capable in the sportbike role why wouldn’t you utlize a less rare, less expensive mount for your canyon fun? This bike seems to exist in between two worlds, without being fully in either.

This MHe is located in the UK, which may be a bit far for our US-based readers. The price might be a bit of a roadblock as well – the seller is looking for a full $21,000 OBO for this example. Click the link to check out all of the pictures and details. This is a great looking example of a great looking bike – and possibly a great investment for somebody. Good Luck!

cool bike, but he’s high on price, just bought one last week with the crate for 15k.
Agreed, very cool bike but not one of Ducati’s more inspired design efforts (except for the swingarm – very nice).
I love this bike. For me, this was the first and finest Ducati retro, with detailing that isn’t matched in its competitors.
That said, Ducati essentially devalued this bike as a rider when they introduced the sport classic. That relegates the MH to art/collector status – meaning every mile is a guilt trip.
Like any good mistress, this bike is thrilling as long as it’s not too much trouble… and there’s the rub. At that price, it might be a little too much trouble for beauty. In this case, I might remind the owner that the Panigale is art as well (with 2x the performance and somehow more practicality).
I guess I’d further add, that I’ve always been a bit irked by Ducati’s attempts to artificially manufacture collectability. The issue is that Ducati can always go out and ruin a collectors investment by making more ‘collectables’. Thence riding the bike must be considered.
[…] 600 SL. Sure, it sports some miles and it needs some refurbishment. But for a LOT less than the turn-of-the-century MH900e internet bike we recently posted, you can have a classic Ducati that offers a different type of […]
