Update 3.2.2014: Back on eBay after first being spotted in late December. Links updated. -dc
Like many of you, I’m a sucker for race replica paint jobs and the Rothmans livery has to be one of the best on any machine. It happens to look awesome on this NSR too. But you get a choice here as it also has Repsol bodywork included in the package as well.
1995 Honda NSR250 for sale on eBay
In doing my research on this one, I stumbled on to this archived post from Doug in 2011. It has to be the same bike right? Black wheels, both sets of bodywork, both key cards, Tyga exhaust, wave rotors… And to be honest, Doug is posing the same questions I was wanting answers for as well. Hopefully those of you with NSR expertise can fetter out the details in the comments below. Thanks in advance!

from the seller:
1995 Honda NSR 250R SP MC28 model – this is a 1of a kind, very rare excellent shape 2 stroke 250 – like the MOTO GP 250’s. Bike runs great street legal and a clean title. 2 complete sets of farrings, one is Rothmans the other is Repsol, 2 fuel tanks, Taga pipes, tires are in excellent shape. I also have the stock credit card key and the HRC Race credit card key. If you are not familiar with the credit card keys call me and I’ll explain it to you, as these are extremely rare also. Also included is part manuals, stock exhaust and miscellaneous parts. This is a rare find, especially in this condition

I’m no expert in the field of Honda NSR 250’s but there is one for sale at addictionmotors.com for $7,500.
Does not have the extra bodywork or Credit keys….
Cheers
This is definitely not original bodywork neither for the Rothmans nor for the Repsol colors. Therefore, the price is too high in my opinion.
This bike is definitely a hybrid SE/SP build, sporting the SE/SP rear suspension, SE forks, and the SP Magtek wheels. Could not verify that it indeed has a SE/SP dry clutch, but I suspect so with the other parts. This may have been a bike I built in TX years ago that made it’s way back to AZ. If so, it would have been titled as an NSR (I had many titled that way), or as an ASVE, or assembled vehicle. Do not know for sure without seeing the VIN. I keep all the VIN’s and copies of title paperwork of all the bikes I built and sold. The Rothman’s bodywork looks to be an early Tyga replica paint scheme (2000 – 2002). Not sure about the Repsol bodywork. Looks to be a good bike if the motor (top and lower) and clutch are in good shape. I think it’s worth maybe $7k tops with 2 sets of bodywork and a clear title.
Yup, on the bodywork. The decals are off on many parts do the bike: Rothmans on the side fairing, HRC on the seat, Red stripe on the seat by the access hole, etc. Also, I think the wheels should be white along with the front fender and turn signals. Also, isn’t the front fairing bracket over the instrument cluster supposed to be silver?
As stated, nice bike but priced too high as it it not OEM.
The identifying details were picked out above. Nice bike but if that’s what someone thinks they’re worth they’re looking for a buyer who can’t resist the myth or is desperate to get one after having long sold theirs. I’d be in the latter category minus the desperate part. They were the height of rare & cool in the states way back when. Maybe still so but then they were something that you couldn’t get outside of the real thing. Light, razor sharp, high tech. Back then street supersports still had steel frames & 130+ lbs over the little NSR street bike. This made the first gen R6’s look like water buffalos. Not so today. A dime a dozen current spec, bone stock supersport has all the flickability and poise of the NSR but a dyno curve closer to a true GP spec RSW250. Ok, it’s not a two stroke so if you must have that then this is it. Otherwise a current gen R6 has the chassis and horsepower closer to the true GP bikes of back then than this does minus the 2 stroke smell & noise.
Yeah, it’s not an R6, but for a nearly 20 year old bike it’s pretty damn quick. I can blow by lots of liter bikes on my ‘ 94 TZ 250 on a tight track. It’s about a short wheel base and corner speed.
i own both an mc21 and cbr600rr and the nsr is more flickable without a doubt. the nsr and supersports are in different realms (not to mention much different displacements); it’s like comparing apples to oranges. coolness factor? nsr, tz, or rgv win by a landslide. rare? moreso today than when they were in production.
apples and oranges yes. The R6 has twice the horsepower but carries an extra 100 lbs.
As soon as I seen the bike I thought that just maybe it might of been one that you and Steele had touched and or put together. Good to see you still follow the Grey Market. I still have the Telefonica VJ23 that I bought from Steele.
It’s a beautiful bike just not for the $$$.
I have seen on this site lately some great bikes at great prices and they sell really well and then some over priced bikes that get passed in. This one falls into the later category. It is still however a great bike which I would love to own
I think its just a Frankensteined” NSR
I wish it had the white wheels. They look so much better with the Rothmans paint schemes.
Awesome. Thanks for the heads up.
I disagree, I think the price is about right, it’s fine saying the price is too high but try finding a nice rideable NSR, there just are not many for sale. What do we see on this sight, 5 a year? 4? Not many, if you want one you’ll struggle to find a nice one for less than $8k these days. Expensive and not worth it? All depends if you want one. I paid $8.5 plus delivery, plus tax for mine after seeing on this site 2 years ago, of all the bikes I have I would sell this one last. They are bike porn, everything about them is a work of art, it’s one of the few bikes you can guarantee you won’t lose money on. Everyone thought they were silly money 4 years ago at $5-$6k, mint originals now sell for $10-$12k and come up once a year. This looks straight and enthusiast owned, not original, nor an SP but great ownership proposition that you can ride all summer and not panic about it getting dirty. Moreover, comparing it favorably to an R6, arguably the best middle weight on the market, when it’s 20 years old and 1/3 the capacity tells you everything you need to know about this classic, epic little bike.
Agreed. Looks like a great bike and they are very rare. Don’t see many in good condition coming up anymore
If i was looking for a fun trackbike this might be a good start with the extra body work,. I can tell you from years of experience riding and racing these are one of the funnest bikes to own. If your idea of riding is going fast in a straight line then this isn’t the bike for you, but if you ride in the canyons or track its as close to a GP experience as you will get.
I bought a low milage original mc28 SP with rothmans bodywork. I spent the time going over every inch of it before putting much mileage it. I was lucky that the crank seals were near perfect as they are expensive to replace. I then put on pipes, derestricted pgm4 and did proper jetting. I paid a premium, but its what i wanted.
Thanks hwood851 for the heads up on this one. I headed picking it up. In my garage now.
Hi Tim,
I recent bought a street legal MC28 with the Rothmans color scheme and HRC 030 card. I’m wondering if this is a bike you ever worked on. It was first registered in 2002. If I provided you the Vin, can you check your records?
