When was the last time you saw an early 900RR that looked this good? The pictures could be deceiving as they’re not the best quality, but really, this is one of the cleaner examples I’ve seen recently; and I’ve been on the lookout!
I spotted this bike on backpage.com which appears to be a Craigslist alternative. Check it out for $4300 with 28k miles:
quote from seller’s listing in Florida:
Here is your chance to own a piece of Motorcycle History! I’m selling my 1993 Honda CBR900RR. I’m only second owner of this gem. It currently has 28000 miles and is completely documented. The bike is easily a 7 out of 10. This bike is ready to ride and has several more enjoyable miles. I replaced the clutch 300 miles ago and sinked the carbs for sea level.
It’s rather timely as well with this article recently published on VisorDown.com about the iconic original 900RR. Here’s an excerpt:

Ride one now and you’ll find it’s not shockingly fast (only 122bhp you see) and really rather comfortable thanks to that flat seat and fat stretch across the mammoth tank to the wide bars. You’ll also find it’s still seriously cool.
Somehow, despite losing power and gaining weight next to the bikes that have come since, the Blade has remained timelessly cool in a James Dean sort of way, and it never had to get splattered across the side of a hay lorry to make it there either.
If you want to buy one you’ll find there are good ‘uns still to be had. Sure plenty were thrashed, trashed and pinged into hedgerows around the country by hard-riding owners, but being Hondas those that weren’t written off have, by and large, stood up far better than just about any other sports bike of the same vintage. Even better, in recent years plenty have fallen into the hands of more caring owners wanting a modern classic and have even had TLC lavished on them already.

While it’s pretty easy to find the 919, 929, and 954 variants in good shape, spotting a decent 900RR is becoming increasingly difficult. If you happen to be in the southeast, and you’re not at the Barber Vintage Festival, I’d go check this out!

Here are some other CBR900RR’s and parts that are for sale right now:

This model was originally intended to be a 750 but Honda did not want to compete with their own v-four sales. 93 had some handling quirks.
93 model had no handling issues and was compared at the time to the 916SP in the handling department. Super fast turner, stable at all speeds, definately no headshake or tank slappers no matter what bumps you put it through. Bike testers at the time were shocked due to its light weight compared to everything else. I have one with 22000km’s on the clock. For me its almost as good as my 996R. Run Bridgestone 016 front and rear and experience ecstacy.
