Time was when retailers would put their sheets and towels on sale mid-winter to find a way out of the January doldrums. A naked 998cc Testastretta would be a more RSBFS path to a winter thaw, and while the buy-it-now isn’t really a bargain, the whopping white twin would be a special second or around town bike.
2007 Ducati Monster S4RS for sale on eBay
After several years of leading the brand in sales, the factory introduced the S4, with the water-cooled 916 engine. Things naturally got out of hand and using the 130 hp 4-cam engine from the 999, S4RS performance is well above any sensible naked, more of a rolling trophy case for Ducat-ista. Trellis frame in beautiful red sets off the red-striped white bodywork, this one with red coolant pipes as well.
Accents are also gold-anodized, the Ohlins forks ( fully adjustable along with Ohlins monoshock ) and on this bike, aftermarket controls, clutch hub and clutch slave. Brembo brakes are oversized for a Monster but right for a Superbike – 320mm front disks with 4-piston radial-mounted calipers, and 245mm rear. Carbon mudguards, side and belt covers match the black seat, and are helped by the upgraded carbon mufflers. Special light alloy wheels help keep the weight under 400 lbs.
Tucked away in the lake-effect snow belt, this Monster hasn’t reached oil-change miles, and whatever the pity, looks great for it. From the eBay auction:
Collectors bike in “like new” condition with only 519 miles. Upgrades including Rizoma, Speedy Moto, Sato Racing & carbon exhaust. Title, factory manuals & “Red Key” in Sellers possession. This Ducati is one of a kind; a one-of-a-kind ‘Monster.’ Included are thousands of dollars of high-end components.
As the Monster was early to the naked party, the S4RS foresaw the super-naked revolution with power more than adequate to peel the unprotected rider right off. Despite the mileage, cam belts will want changing before this bike takes a serious ride, though it could perfectly be retired to the gallery. Maybe after a sparkling new chain with red, or maybe gold side plates…

Why are we looking at this? Slow day on the internets?
Ducati is really over promoted. Nothing unique, nothing special, average performance. The Original Monster was one of the 10 to 15 bikes in the last millennium, like the introduction of the Honda 750, or the Triumph Tiger to be crowned as some of the best bikes made/introduced. But maybe the fact that all we seem to see on this site is mostly Ducs it could be bcause A.) people finally get it, Ducati is not special and are dumping their bikes or B.) the folks running this site are still infatuated with Ducati – (so ’90’s of them)
And, real race bikes don’t have electric start. I am tired of these track day posers coming to the track with their production sleds with fairings, number plates and all the lights and signals removed. Spend the money on a real GP bike like a RS125 or RS250 or TZ125 or TZ250. The guys that drive these bikes will blow the doors off you and your R6 anyway…..
You should be able to buy a nice one for $8k but it’s the red color scheme that looks best with the in your face red frame.
But the site is Rare SPORTBIKES for sale not Rare RACEBIKES for sale. Watch some IOM TT coverage of the Dunlop bros., John McGuiness, Guy Martin, Bruce Ansty, et all racing the super stock bikes, you may change your mind.
Alas there are alot of Ducatis but I think they are the manufacturer who builds their street legal sport bikes closest to their race bikes these days.
While this bike certainly is not for me (couldn’t they find anything else to buy in anodized gold?), I will allow that it may be for some. And Vintage, I disagree with you. People like Duc’s, and in general we are not seeing prices plummet. I’ll be the first to say this is not grounded in any logic. I can buy a dozen different Japanese bikes with better performance, comfort, and reliability than a similarly priced 900ss, but those are Honda’s (Yami’s, etc.), and this is a Ducati. Just like with Harley (and I AM NOT a Harley fan), the name has value. Not saying it’s right, but it is true.
In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve had four Ducati’s, and I still have 4 Honda’s (NSR150, NSR250, and 2 VFR’s). I’m not trying to debate one marque over another. Just saying some may have different tastes that me. And that is okay.
Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder…. just need a Pontiac Aztek draped in gold bits to haul it.
Vintage off on a rant. What are you talking about anyways? Its a street bike, no one ever said it was a TZ/RS so what gives? R6 must have passed you on the track and had to come whine here?
I wouldn’t touch one of the monsters with the molded plastic tank. Maybe I was one of the unlucky, but once my tank started deforming (look for bulging in the knee pocket area) I unloaded it as quick as I could.
The plastic tanks are awful, been going on for years now and once they no longer replace them for free becomes a hard pill to swallow. Very frustrating,
A real race bike is incredibly expensive compared to a street bike prepped for the track. Plus they don’t even make 2-strokes anymore.
use non ethanol gas and its not a prob. if you live somewhere and cant get some nearby I recommend moving
Gaudy pile, pass…
