The RS250 Challenge was the only version Aprilia ever offered U.S. customers, and as you can see it was a track ready version without headlights, signals, and other road amenities. The Challenge was made for a one make race series that followed the AMA calendar. I remember being at Sears Point and seeing one brand new at the dealer area and hoping a street version would soon follow. Of course it never did.
2004 Aprilia RS250 Challenge for sale on eBay
The Challenge is based on the later MKII version of the RS250, which are easy to spot from the digital dash cluster and revised fairings. This example has been used as intended though not in the Challenge race series. It has also had a thorough engine rebuild according to the seller, so you should be all set to hit your local track where it truly is in it’s element.

Max Biaggi did incredible things with this machine in 250 GP. Amazing value.
I raced one of these for 3 or 4 seasons about 10 years ago. They are very fun track bikes. This one seems to be a very clean example. It probably did not see any serious track time, as it still wears the standard fairings, which, in addition to being far too complicated and fussy to take on/off on a regular basis, do not have a belly pan for retaining oil/coolant which is generally required for racing. If anyone here buys it, let me know. I think I still have some miscellaneous spares lying around in the garage.
I had a 2002 Cup Bike. Loved it. Sold it after not really riding it on the track after getting my Daytona 675R.
After seeing this and the HRC V500 the other day, I am tempted to buy an Aprilia frame/ swingarm and stuff an RZ350 (bored out to 441) in it and have a whole lotta fun.
What spares do you have?? 🙂
if the reserve is around 7k this is way more realistically priced than the tzr…
Biaggi’s RS250 was loosely based on this machine.
Love2Lean,
Sounds like a fun project. What spares I might have would be small enough things that I never bothered to sell, like gearing, fasteners for the stock bodywork, etc.

The seller lowered the reserve and the current bid of $6,400 is reserve met with 6 hours to go.
