1996 Kawasaki Ninja ZX7RR With Very Low VIN (#025) On eBay–Again

The is a great looking ZX7RR N1 that we haven’t seen since September!

Bike:  1996 Kawasaki ZX7RR N1

Miles:  6,998mi

Price:  $6,000 Starting bid with no reserve

Location:  Colorado Springs, Colorado

This ‘RR is on consignment from the third owner, was fully serviced prior to being listed, and the bike is stated to be all original.  Some defects include light scratching to the ram air covers, front fender, some of the left fuel tank decal has been removed by a fuel spill (new one is included with the sale), the battery is dead and the forks have started to leak.  Not exactly what I expect when a bike has supposedly had “…detailed service work” and “…several different services including thorough carb work.”  Regardless, this bike appears to be a very collectible piece with some light love–and front turn signals.

Doug had some very good observations when this bike was first spotted in September:

Downs:
1. Missing the front turn signals
2. Missing the side fairing reflectors
3. Doesn’t have the Muzzy 7rr Special sticker on the tank
4. Butt pad is a little beat up
5. Seat has a gas cap stain – can see if you look closely at pictures
6. Needs a new front tire, but it’s the original D204 Sportmax
7. Has a pencil sized dent in the gas tank.
8. Rims may have been painted at some point.

Ups:
1. It’s a N1!
2. Better than average condition
3. Low miles
4. Has one original tire :)
5. It’s priced right.
6. I like it a whole lot for the money

I’m going to have to agree with Doug, this is a very good–great–bike for the money compared to what we’ve seen other N1’s going for.  If you wanted an occasional weekend bike with collector credibility this is a fantastic choice.  With a little work, I don’t think anyone would be ashamed to have this in their garage.  See Doug’s very thorough write up here.  See some of the other ZX7RR’s we’ve posted .

1989 Yamaha FZR750R OW01 In The United Kingdom

A gorgeous looking OW01 with less than 3k miles!

Location:  Somewhere in the UK.

This seller has a few bikes for sale, and this one is the best looking!  The seller states that this OW01 is an original UK bike and has been stored in a climate controlled environment since new.  Other than mentioning that this bike is in fantastic condition, the seller also states that this bike comes with:

…ALL THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK FOR THE BIKE, OWNERS MANUAL, SALES BROCHURE, SERVICE BOOK,  TOOL KIT, ORIGINAL TYRES AND ORIGINAL SPARE KEYS.

The seller is very correct in stating that the FZRR’s seem to be the rarest of the WSB homologation bikes and I fully agree, this bike is a finely tweaked racing machine that sill looks very similar to the FZR1000 that was available at the same time.  However, I believe the saying is everything that is rare isn’t valuable and, unfortunately, the FZR750R isn’t up to RC30 levels yet.  That being said, you’re going to have to be pretty keen on the OW01 to justify the asking price of £15,000.00  ($24,229.30 USD as of this writing).  The seller is feeling no guilt in the last thrashes of the recession–hopefully–as he is asking OW02 money for an OW01.  But, if you’re so inclined, I invite you to see if you can talk the seller, down, down to a reasonable level via the eBay link .

2001 Ducati 996R With 135 Total Miles

Here is another low-mileage 996R in fantastic condition!

Bike:  2001 Ducati 996R

Price:  $20,000 in stock form or $22,000 with extras

We’ve had several 996R’s on RSBFS and most have been fantastic, low mileage, examples.  This example here doesn’t disappoint either with only 135 miles total.

Here is what the seller says about additional parts with the bike:

The additional pieces aren’t too major and the bike should easily be returned to stock.  The seller states that this bike has also been recently serviced.  I would think it’d be the prudent move to buy this bike, completely stock, and use the additional $2k for a nice pedestal.

2003 Kawasaki ZX-6RR Completely Stock With 1,766 Original Miles On eBay

This is a very nice example of what I believe to be one of the next collector Kawasaki’s!

Bike:  2003 Kawasaki ZX-6RR

Location:  Windsor, Connecticut

Mileage:  1,766mi

The seller states that this bike is in mint condition and free of scratches or dents.  The bike has a new battery and fresh oil change.  This bike looks to be completely stock down to the rear fender and exhaust.

Now before you judge me, this isn’t the 636cc ZX6R, this is the Homologation 599cc ZX6RR.  What does that mean?  Well, the RR features a short stroke engine with forged pistons, fuel injection, close-ratio gear box, adjustable swingarm pivot, adjustable USD forks, adjustable rear shock, a 15,500rpm red-line and a digital dash with lap-timer.

Like many of the bikes on RSBFS, the RR was designed to compete in national (AMA) events and World SuperSport championships.  I see it being one of the future collectible Kawasaki’s especially as examples like these become increasingly rarer.  This was the first 600cc sport bike to feature USD forks and should be the first new Kawi in your collection.

See this low mileage example on eBay , before someone convinces their eighteen year old friend this would make a great first bike.

1989 Yamaha FZR750R OW01 In Mexico

This is a real FZR750R OW01 available in Mexico!

Bike:  1989 Yamaha FZR750R

Location:  Mexico City, Mexico

Mileage:  5,148km

The listing has really no information other than that the bike only comes with the Japanese title, doesn’t have a 17 digit VIN, cosmetically it has some small nicks and there is a video that shows the tach works.  The photos do show that the fairings are pretty rough (For a collector OW01) and there appears to be some surface corrosion.

On from that, I’ll refresh your memory on the OW01.  The FZR750R was created to compete against the RC30 in World SuperBike racing.  The OW01 shares very little with the standard FZR750 and a little more in common with the FZR1000.  The short stroke motor breathes through four 38mm flat-side Mikuni’s, five valves, hand finished porting, lightweight pistons, titanium connecting rods mated to a close ratio transmission.  This results in 108RWHP at 12,500RPM.

The OW01 also features an aluminum Deltabox frame and swingarm with fully adjustable Ohlins units front & rear with Nissin four-pot calipers mated to 320mm discs in the front.

This bike is a result of Yamaha’s need to get a competitive bike Homologated for World SuperBike;  Yamaha only needed to produce 500 example for Homologation making the OW01 very scarce then, as well as now.

If you want a bike that an RC30 owner will cross the street for, a FZR750R should do it.  The trouble with this bike will be importing it.  If you’d like to bring this into the U.S. it will probably be difficult or nigh-impossible.  The easiest way would be to bring it in as a race bike but, it has to obviously be a race bike.  If you don’t know where to start, I would do some research or find an informed confidant and wait for the next one to pop up.  See the other OW01’s we’ve had here.  See this current bike on eBay .

1998 Suzuki TL1000R One-Owner Bike With Less Than 1,500 Miles On eBay

This is a one-owner TL1000R with less than 1,500 original miles!

Bike:  1998 Suzuki TL1000R

Location:  South Plainfield, New Jersey

Mileage:  <1,500

This is only the second TL1000R we’ve featured–not counting Bimota’s–and it seems to be another good find!  The seller states that they purchased this bike in June of 1998 and it has less than 1,500 miles because of college and moving.  They don’t mention much other than that the bike is free of modifications which the pictures seem to agree with.

Having TL experience I can say these are quite nice bikes on the road.  On the track they may not keep up with the RC’s and Duc’s but, on the street they are more than adequate.  The bike pulls strong from idle and all the way up to just before red-line.  They are very nice in the city because of the torque and the radiator positioning doesn’t cook you in the summer.  The opening bid for this bike is $3,700 with no reserve, I think you’ll find that is right about where TL1000R’s with 10-20k miles are on Craigslist, making this bike a bargain if it doesn’t go up too much!  If you’re a Suzuki collector, why not pick up a low mile, first year, TLR for the collection?  See the other TLR we featured here.  See this bike on eBay .

2006 Bimota SB8K Santa Monica With Less Than 1,000 Miles On eBay

Bimota SB8K Santa Monica available on eBay!

This looks to be a very nice–as one would expect with a sub-1k mile bike–Santa Monica on eBay that looks to be 100% stock, excluding the tank protector, as the seller states.

As you may know, the SB8K uses a Suzuki TL1000R based 996cc V-Twin with Bimota’s own fuel-injection system that uses radial mount fuel injectors which ensures very good power distribution.  The SB8K also features a very smart ECU which can also be used to download up to an hour of historical data from the bike.  The bodywork, including the tank, is all made of carbon-fiber while the majority of the other items are from aluminum.

I have yet to ride a SB8K but, I do have some very good experience on a TL1000R and I can honestly say the engine is the best part of the equation.  The TLR is heavy at slow speeds and the suspension isn’t perfect, but everything is overall very good with the motor the standout piece.  As many of you Duc’ riders know, the low-end torque of a V-Twin is fantastic and this motor continues to shine as the rev’s climb to the red-line.  The shortcomings of the TLR are the same reasons Bimota originally opened it’s doors:  Because the Japanese could build fantastic motors but didn’t have the resources to build fantastic frames and suspension.  Don’t get me wrong, the TLR is a very good bike, but I don’t doubt that the SB8K is far superior to it.

As the seller states, this bike originally sold for $49,495.29 (The price list says 2007) and this auction has the reserve under the base price of a Ducati 1198 ($16,495).  Which means, this bike has depreciated $33k in just four years.  If this bike goes for just over $16.5k, I call it a deal because, like the seller states, that is 1198 base money and, in the long run, I’d rather have a SB8K over a 1198–especially as that 1198 still has all of it’s depreciation ahead of it.  See Phil’s review of the other SB8K currently on eBay .  See this SB8K on eBay .

2000 Ducati 996R With 953 Miles In California

This is a very nice looking 996R with less than 1k miles in California!

Location:  South Lake Tahoe, California

This 996R looks to be completely stock as a bike with under 1k miles should be!  500 of these were made for 2000 and, as the seller states, came equipped with Ohlins suspension front & rear, Marchesini wheels, carbon bits galore, Brembo’s, and a trick Testastretta motor among other things.

We’ve seen these 996R’s and SPS’s go for varying amounts but, this one seems reasonably priced with less than 1k miles and an asking price of $14,500–See our other 996 content here.  If you’d rather have a real homologation/race replica bike over a stickered up, brand-new, R1; have a look at this 996R on Craigslist here.
