This is a beauty in the signature white and blue Suzuki race livery.
And it is the first year of the sling shot. Originally I thought ‘sling shot’ meant that you feel like you are being released from a sling-shot when you hit the throttle on this bike. In a conversation with Red, I was informed of the real meaning behind the nick name.
The term “Slingshot” comes from its unique carburetor setup. The 1988 GSX-R 750 featured Mikuni flat-slide carburetors that were side-drafted, meaning they were oriented horizontally and positioned on either side of the engine, resembling a slingshot in shape.
This design allowed for a more direct and efficient air-fuel mixture flow into the engine, improving performance and throttle response. The “Slingshot” nickname was a playful reference to the appearance of these carburetors, as they looked somewhat like the prongs of a slingshot when viewed from the side.
It’s become a term of endearment for this particular GSX-R model, further contributing to its legendary status in the world of sportbikes.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

Classic livery before the 90’s walked in splattering the graphics everywhere. His also heralded in the earliest days to truelly usefull suspension. The kind you could adjust the damping on. Instead of adding 5psi of air pressure to. (Not particurly helpful).
