It is no secret that I’m a fan of displacement challenged bikes but I have to admit NS125’s aren’t on my radar. This one caught my eye as unique but is it really something different or just a sticker job? By the way, if you are going to get upset that this bike is not in the United States; you should stop reading at this point.
Are mundane as this photo is, it is what made me think this really is a higher spec model. Dual discs on a fairly pedestrian 125? Every net photo a of NS125 (F’s and R’s) showed a single disc. Maybe there is something to this R II business.
From the seller:
This is a very clean example of an unrestored Honda NS125 R year 1988 ready for an easy full restoration to bring these hard to find sort after model back to its full forma glory.
It is in overall good original condition with all factory finishes it does however have a few marks here and there as you would expect for an un restored bike of its ageand a few splits in the casings, but is still a good almost impossible to find model in this condition, It has been recently been imported from Europe and will need to be registered in the UK on age related number plate with buyers name as first keeper on v5 at a cost of approx, £85.00
It has done 42,048kms which is around 26,114 miles
With very little effort, this bike could be put back to mint condition but would be fine to be used as it is. It also has the advantage of being a full power model. It has matching locks with original factory key.
The engine fires immediately and sounds as it should.
The green number plate is definitely a ploy to make you feel like you are on a race bike.
So help me out RSBF’ers. Is it an importer special (think TZR125R Belgrada)? Japanese domestic model? What makes it different other than the dual discs? Hopefully some more zip.
After some reading it sounds like NS125R’s were produced in Italy. So I’m going with official Honda model that never saw the sun rise in Japan.
Update: I’m thoroughly confused now. I found some for sale in Japan. I found one in Air Italia colors and one in Rothmans colors, both with dual discs but don’t say R II on them. Set me straight before I have to breakout the Bombay Sapphire here at the ultra plus RSBFS offices.

Hi Ian. The NS and NSR were products of Honda Italy. Today they are still active and are responsible for the design if the Hornet to mention one.
Belgarda instead is the importer of Ysmahas in Italy…
Ciao
Do you have any info on the R2 and how it was different than the R?
Cool bike, wish it was in the US
R versions are with full fairing and white background rpm counter and speedometer. R2 are with dual disc brakes. The Rothmans were introduced as a special edition of the R2. The R also replaced the F in the Italian single brand (monomarca in Italian) Honda championship that in those years was a good and affordable launching platform for riders who wanted to step into racing…
Hallo Ian,
Schau mal rein.
