The Seller of Few Words
Very nice original bike with new tires fresh oil change. Runs good. The interceptor is getting very hard to find especially in this context

The VF1000F was a game-changer in the motorcycle industry, marking one of the earliest instances of a V4 engine configuration on a production bike. This engine layout was more than a technological advancement; it brought harmony between the raw power of inline fours and the silky smoothness of V-twins. The result was a blend of performance and refinement that captivated riders…. as proven by the 24,000 miles on this bike.
Beyond the road, the VF1000F left its mark on the racing circuit as well. It paved the way for the VF1000R, the racing version that made its mark in Superbike competitions during the 1980s. Its racing success further solidified the VF1000F’s reputation as a motorcycle of exceptional performance.

A little story
Red just reminded me about a funny story. He was enjoying an afternoon on his Interceptor a few years ago when the road turned to two lanes and a mini-van drove up next to him. The man driving was waving his arms frantically for Red to pull over. Thinking perhaps the man needed help he pulled over and the mini-van man started gushing about how he used to own one of these motorcycles and how much he loved it. He just had to have a good look at it.
That story always make us laugh and it shows the power of these machines. They conjure up emotion, sometimes to the point where you can’t hold back.
Just like Maverick unveiled his vintage GPZ900R in the 2022 Top Gun movie, we pay respect. We wave, give a thumbs up, ask Vincent Ochs questions at the gas station and we meet in parking lots to share the love.
This Interceptor looks clean and worth a call if this is the bike you have been looking for.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

Good morning! First, I want to thank the two of you very much for keeping RareSportBikesForSale.com going. It’s my first read everyday!
I remember when the Interceptors first came out. They were the bike everyone wanted. I had a used 1981 KZ550 at the time (my first bike at 18) – and was lusting after the first generation of Gpz550s – when the Interceptors blew the doors off the market. They were literally the first modern sport bikes and are the forebears of every sport bike – especially the middleweights — since. I have the good fortune of being in the process of restoring a 1983 VF750F Interceptor, but the 1000 in this listing is in much better cosmetic condition – making it a real rarity and a steal at $6,500 OBO. I hope one of us jumps at it!
Best to all –
Bill
PS – You listed it as a 1994 in the headline. It’s a 1984 for sure!
Good catch on the model year, thanks! -dc
When this thing debuted, my brother was always lusting after one, until we heard stories about peanut butter cam shafts. But definitely a revolutionary machine.
@Bill – thanks for that! Copy editing error as for sure 84 was in my mind. And thanks for your support – it means a lot!
Here’s kind of an Interceptor story. Back in 1985, I was service mgr. at the local Honda dealer. Me and two buddies decide to ride to the AMA road races at Mid-Ohio. That was about a 450 mile round trip. I had an 84 500 Interceptor. One buddy had one of the first GPZ900’s and the other buddy had just traded in his 750 Interceptor on a new VF1000R. They had radar detectors so we spent much of that trip well above the speed limit. Lot’s of nice curvy roads in Ohio. We came to a straight stretch of road where you could see for about two miles and they just took off. They left me behind as my 500 wound out would do 128mph. When we got to the first stop, I found out that the GPZ topped out at 148mph but the 1000R had cleared 150. Those were big numbers back in the mid 80’s. That trip is still one of our best memories of that time period.
