Well here is something you definitely don’t see for sale everyday. The OW-02 is the kind of bike that defines a Rare Sport Bike, and this one is For Sale. Yamaha had designed the R7 to compete in WSB and given it numerous improvements. Ohlins suspension, titanium valves and con-rods, forged pistons with nickel-plated tops, an extra layer of aluminum on the frame that made it twice as stiff as an R1, and carbon fiber airbox highlight these upgrades. Yamaha was not messing around when they made these things. The R7 meant business.
This lovely R7 up for sale here has only traveled a total of 750 miles during its life. It is not stock, but it does have a Stage 1 Race kit installed. I don’t know exactly was is included in the kit, but you can be sure that the power rating is well above the stock level of 100hp. All of the stock parts and manuals are included as well.
From the seller:
Yamaha YZF-R7 for sale by original owner.
I have owned this bike from new. It has very low mileage and has only been ridden at track days, never been raced or been on the road. In excellent original condition. R7 Stage I race kit professionally installed.
Only 1200 Km (750 miles) since new.
All unused kit parts, removed original parts and manuals included in sale.
The bike is in street-legal trim and CA registered (plate removed for pictures).
For full details on this model, see the Motorcycle.com Review of the 1999 R7
UPDATE: The bike will be on display at the eBay Motors booth at the Red BullU.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this weekend, from Friday July 27 – Sunday July 29. The booth will be located by Turn 2, the Andretti Hairpin, in the vendors area.
Considering that these bikes were an unprecedented $30k when they were brand new, I would say that this bike is a steal. Well maybe not a steal, but at $25k with ultra low miles, a race kit installed, and all the stock parts included, it is a hell of a deal. And the best part? You can venture on down to the RedBull U.S. Gran Prix this weekend and see it in person at the eBay motors booth at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca! You can bet that I will be there as will most of the other RSBFS staff members. I you see me, feel free to say “Hi”, I’ll be the guy wearing a hat and shorts… You can check out the auction here and buy this awesome R7 today!
See you at the Corckscrew!

gone.
OMG! I just shat myself. What a smokin deal.
Day late, think went at 6AM so was sold before it was posted sadly.
This bike has (had!) everything going for it- it pushes all the right buttons. All time modern sport bike beauty, rarity/exclusivity, collectability, model race history (WSBK Haga replica), technology/trickness. Come to think of it, you could say this could be the model for the site’s definitive Rare Sport Bike For Sale.
I am kicking myself, To think this sat on ebay for at least 2 days prior to the sale and it being posted here. Being only 3 hours away from me and being exactly what I have been looking for. Funny thing life….all about right time and place.
These are so rare I’d never set up an email notification for one. If I had seen this it would have been mine.
Frankly, I wish it was never posted here so I didn’t know it was out there. CA titled!!, and was in my own backyard. Curse you RSBFS!!!!! 😛
I am going to go back and resume crying my wheaties….
EricH, there is one at Hillsboro Motorsports in Hillsboro Oregon with 70 miles on it for sale. http://www.hillsboromotorcycles.com/photo_detail.asp?photo=441009
Appreciate it Tbone. I actually talked to them when it listed thru this site. They wanted over 30K and it has some cosmetic defects. Worse, it is being sold with MSO versus a title, so that is a problem for us in CA unless you have friends at DMV who can make problems go away.
