Bidding has been pretty hot on this one – despite the low quality pictures – as these bikes are very difficult to find. While the price is only just above $2k (with reserve still in place), bidding has been pretty steady. I would expect this one to go to the wire. For Sale: 1983 Katana 750
The second Katana is the smaller version, later year, and East Coast (NJ). This bike has all the great Katana looks with a slightly smaller powerplant. As such it is not the most collectable of the Katana line (even though it is quite rare), but it retains the style and adds a unique red/silver paint scheme that the larger bikes did not have.
From the seller:
The 1983 Suzuki Katana GS750SD is the rarest of the 3 Katanas available in the 1980s. I bought this bike 5-6 years ago with plans for it to be my daily rider. I have two others. At that time I cleaned the carbs, replaced the battery, spark plugs and oil and it started right up. As you can see from the pictures the bike is in very original condition. The only non-original part is the wind screen and the gauges are from a 1982 (only 85 mph speedo) The bike has been kept in a garage for all the years that I have owned it. Based on the condition, I believe it’s been garage kept most of its life. I have not started the bike in a few years. This bike is a great find!!! Just need a little TLC….after all it is 29 years old.
This bike shows very well. There is some concern over the change in windshield and gauges, but most bikes nearing the 30 year threshold have some replacement bits here and there. Interestingly, bidding has been very slow on this bike to date, with only $1,675 commited thus far. But since this bike has NO RESERVE it looks like a lucky bidder will take it home soon.
