The Bimota KB1 is not only one of the sexiest Bimotas ever made, it is one of the hottest and most original sports bike. While production numbers reached an astonishing 827 samples between 1978 and 1982, it is very rare to come across one for sale.
Is it going to be affordable ? Well, at roughly 24.000 dollars, I guess not really, but then again, have you ever even seen one live? With time passing, the KB1 gets even more Kool.
I love that simple round light at the front coupled with the curved and aggressively shaped fully faired bodywork. Behind the red and silver colors, a mighty (at the time) Kawasaki 900cc power plant from the Z1 was fitted.
The Bimota also featured an adjustable steering head and a single shock at the rear swing arm. With more than 80 hp, this red Kawasaki powered bike can deliver the emotions from the dynamics in addition to the standstill “WOW” effect.
This sample found in Switzerland has just short of 36.000 km and by the looks of the garage in which it is accommodated, it probably belongs to a true motor enthusiast of the time.
That chrome exhaust, it must have looked quite futuristic at the time as it appears similar to some of the modern “shorties” fitted on current sport bikes. The shorter the exhaust, the closest it is to your ears and the stronger will be the music you will listen.

Aesthetic and mechanical sculpture.
It’s stunning to put this motorcycle into the context of it’s era: compare it to KZ1000’s, GS1000, XS1100, etc. The Bimota’s frame in particular and over all design excellence was far ahead if it’s time. This bike was unbelievably beautiful when created, always has been, always will be. Timeless, in other words.
I love the looks of it. Almost bought one over 20 years ago, but I remember those had thermal issues caused by the fairing. Would not care about that now… shoulda bought it, it was cheap. 🙁
