What is the value for a used GSX-R? Clearly this depends upon condition. But what about history? Does the fact that this Gixxer is reportedly Chuck Graves’ race bike with mods and history add to the value? The race experience certainly adds to the cool factor, although this bike has now been transformed to a street machine. There is no doubt there are some interesting bits on this bike.

It’s all true you can call Chuck himself and he will tell you this was his favorite bike ever ! It is the last Suzuki he built and rode.
This bike has an opening ask of $8,000 – with absolutely no takers. Is the starting price too high, or is there not enough interest in a 1990s era GSX-R1000? Is the Graves not a big enough draw? Does the race history help or hurt the sale? Check it out here and let us know your thoughts.

Oh super sweet! A bike that looks antiquated which would be worth around $3500 is being listed for $8000 because it’s been abused for a race season.
NO FUCKING WAY.
Huh??? There is no such thing as a 90’s era GSXR 1000. This is simply an SRAD with an old 900 motor thrown in it, with a few K1 stickers on the final product. Buyer beware….
Lots of great comments here and on our Facebook page about this one. Jay, you are correct in that this is not a factory (or stock) GSX-R1000. This is an ex racer – and the fact is most old race machinery has been handed down and modified extensively. This one is likely no exception.
Interested buyers should do their homework and ask lots of questions. -Mike
They certainly acknowledge it is a GSXR 1000 in name only. The RF motor was known to be pretty bulletproof from what I have read. It certainly is an interesting machine in my opinion. I would want to see it in person to confirm all the racing bits on it. The guy selling it has a 100 rating with over 900 sells and buys so I think that says something. An aluminum gas tank would set you back 1500 bucks easily. If all the things he says are correct it would make a great track bike.
What became of the Graves livery bodywork?
To me, this is an interesting bike (if the claims are legit), but the newer GSXR 1000 body ruins it. It clearly needs the old SRAD body (and Graves paint) – I’d hate to see an interesting machine go unnoticed because it looks like ‘just another’ early 2000’s gixxer.
One glaring flaw with the ad is the number of photos. Such an extensively modified bike needs to be extensively documented. From the 4 pics, I can’t tell if this is a ~$3500 ’96 srad with squidly body, or if this is the real deal.
Claimed to be such a seriously trick ex-race bike built and raced by one of the best at his business. Yet you put the wrong era bodywork on it, cheap out on the paint and graphics, and attach a passenger seat and footpegs. Seriously?
interesting.
could be a great bike, but its a horrible attempt to sell it.
To each his own . No matter what anyone says about the bodywork (which looks nice & clean , even if it is not “era correct”) it still beats the heart of a lion in there and you can have fun with it on the street ! Nuff’ said !
