Up for grabs today is a very strange, Japanese market two stroke. Looking to have been imported straight from Japan (although this model was also exported to Australia and New Zealand), the MVX250F is a V-3 two stroke with, uh, character. With the front two cylinders laying horizontally and the rear cylinder standing up, this 90 degree V formation utilizes a different sized connecting rod in the rear to quell vibration. What looks like a drum brake up front is actually a single disk, offset and covered. Power (when new) was in the 40HP range, with a dry weight of just over 300 lbs.
1983 Honda MVX250F for sale on eBay
From the seller:
1983 Honda MVX250F located in Santa Ana, California. This bike has 1782 km = 1069 miles. Bike is in good condition for it’s age. Engine is a 3 cylinder 250cc two stroke. The engine starts first kick and runs great. The bad point on the bike is the decals on the lower fairing and radiator shrouds are not good. Not many MVX250F are left now in this condition. There is no title with this bike. Bike is sold with a bill of sale only.
Early production MVX engines had a purported history of seizing the rear cylinder. Although this was only a one generation model, there were changes made later in the product run to combat this tendency. No telling about this particular bike, and I would need to defer to an MVX expert (anyone? anyone? Bueller?) to help confirm whether or not it would fall in the affected range. Some internet research (much which must be taken with a grain of salt) lists the MVX as a troublesome model in general. Regardless, I think it looks pretty interesting. The three cylinder configuration is shared with the NS400R as well as championship winning 500cc GP bikes, and you will definitely made an entrance riding something like this!
Japan is a country where space is at a premium. Private garages are very expensive and not available to most residents. Thus bikes end up sitting outside a lot. Look for corrosion due to weather exposure as a normal occurrence. The cosmetics on this bike are not perfect, but nothing looks too terrible. Think of it as a semi-blank canvas. The lack of title is concerning, and there is no hope in Hades to ever get this thing titled in a state like California. Click here to check it out. Buyers be aware, tread carefully, and let us know what you think.

The MVX was a troublesome model in general, the problems with the engine were corrected in the NS400R. So basically,it was one of the most unreliable (if not the most) models Honda ever produced, the inboard disc was rubbish, it’s not surprising that it was a sales flop. Give me a NS 400R over this any day.
That first comment is the best I’ve ever seen on this site.
Yep, a spammer has infiltrated our beloved site and is currently in our midst. Don’t you dare click on his link!
That Honda is scary mess with big corrosion issues and no title- no interest here.
looks like something Ed Rooney would have liked, but I say SAVE FERRIS! 😉
$4200 is very optimistic, especially with the gearbox full of coolant. Anyone else notice that bright green gearbox sight glass?
^^^ Good eye. This bike is junk.

Weird bike. Too bad Honda made a turd.
That last picture, take off the wheels, add thrusters, and you could totally see Flash Gordon riding it in the 1980 flick. Flash! oh oh, Saver of the universe!
It’s also very much worth noting that these photos are all of the bike taken in Japan. So, if the bike is in CA, why aren’t any of the photos?
