While we were stuck with Ninja 250s, Japan was building quarter-liter inline fours that screamed. The FZR250 launched in December 1986 as the fourth of Yamaha’s four-stroke race-inspired sportbikes after the FZR1000, FZR750 and FZR400, with an inline four tilted 45 degrees forward under the Genesis concept. For 1988 it became the first Yamaha 250 to get the EXUP exhaust valve, and the FZR250R replaced it the following spring.
This one looks to be wearing the white and blue Yamaha added late in 1988, which turned out to be the last FZR250 before the R took over. The photos show some honest wear, including a chip on top of the tank and a few scuffs on the tail. For a fresh import, it’s worth asking what paperwork came along with it.
Seems like a good price. Anyone think otherwise?
Good luck to the buyer and seller!
