Considering the typical colors and graphics for the early ’90’s, this black and silver option shows how a classic design can stand the test of time.

26,246 miles on this fully restored Greymarket beauty.

According to Red, “The 14,500 red-line is sick. It’s a screamer.”

A little history on the bike
The VFR400R NC30, with a V4 four stroke engine and gear driven camshafts, replaced the previous NC24 version of the VFR400 launched in 1989, according to AutoEvolution. By the end of the 80’s Honda had sorted out the VFR motor and the third generation gained in popularity.
The NC30 was not widely available in all markets, mainly produced for the Japanese market. This limited availability has contributed to its strong following among sportbike enthusiasts and collectors. This particular specimen came from South Africa and is a rare model.
The VFR400R NC30, third generation of VFR400R, was the best known version according to Wikipedia. This saw styling changes, most notably the headlights were updated to smaller twin headlights, much the same as the RC30, and relocation of the silencer to the left side, which gave a more open look to the rear wheel on the right side.
This model saw the introduction of the 360° crank firing engine, which is also known as the “big bang” engine….Though it was mainly made for the Japanese market, the NC30 was also officially sold in limited numbers in several European countries.
The new 1990 ‘hard-edged’ color schemes came in Red/White/Blue, Black/Silver and Red/Black, according to the Classic Motorbikes review of the VFR400R family.

LL on the aesthetics: The black and silver color scheme is sharp and has an understated boldness to it. The hard edges of the design work well with the angle of the pipes and the angle of the type. The color red is used sparingly, with clear intent. The more I look at this bike, the more I like it. That speaks volumes to the strength of the design.
