These lovely bikes don’t appear very often and we posted one last week that was available in California. This week we find one on the East Coast. It seems the owner likes his 2 strokes as he intimates that he has a couple more RZ500’s and there is an RZ350 and a Suzuki RGV in the background of the photos. The owner has a thing for 2 strokes I guess!! The RZ was about as close as one could get to a Yamaha GP bike of the era (Suzuki had their RG500 in the same vein). Certainly there is nothing quite like the sound and smell of a bike 2 stroke bike.
1985 Yamaha RZ500 4 cylinder 2 stroke, twin crankshaft V4
Just like the RZ350 but an extra crankshaft and 2 extra cylinders. Very clean bike, all stock, clear Florida title in my name, legally imported with all documents, no damage scratches or dents, original paint on tank and is near perfect, bodywork has been re-painted original colors and repo decals and looks great. All there, nothing missing but grommets for front turn signals, . Easy to get parts for. Has the factory rear cowl for the seat, The right side lower pipe has a small dent on it. Ready to go, needs nothing but some gas. Miles on speedo not right, but must be low because of the condition of everything. The speedo works but was replaced some years ago. The RZ Tachs and Speedo’s are known for not working well. I own 2 others and also some RZ350’s. Great bikes , solid investment. Consider trade (+/-cash) for RG500, flats boat, boston whaler less than 16 feet. Will post pictures on Tuesday.
$11500 FIRM.
The listing can be found on Craigslist.
The listing is very honest about mileage etc and the owner is firm on price. While this is at the right sort of the level he may struggle a bit for that in the current market. But wouldn’t you love one?
And to give you all a taste:
