In the US, we may not have been aware of the raging battle for 250cc supremacy that raged overseas through the late 1980s and early 1990s, but we were definitely aware of the competition in the four-stroke 600cc supersport class, with Kawasaki’s ZX-6R Ninja, Honda’s CBR600, Yamaha’s YZF/FZR600, and Suzuki’s GSX-R600 all vying for top honors. These bikes were pretty common when new, but time hasn’t been kind to them and most have been written off by newbie riders or club racers in the decades since, making bikes like today’s very sharp example pretty rare.
The ZX-6R was introduced in 1995 and used an all-new inline four displacing 599cc, backed by a heavily revised six-speed gearbox. It featured a functional ram-air system that helped the bike achieve class-leading power and top speed: 95 rwhp and 154mph, respectively. That engine was suspended from an aluminum beam frame while the suspension was significantly updated, compared to the previous ZX-6, to improve the cornering clearance and handling.
These are getting harder and harder to find in good shape for affordable prices. I’m sure there are some garage-queen collectables out there that will command suitably ridiculous prices, but this one is ready to ride, and the seller is asking a reasonable $7,000.

Pictures does not do it justice.
Immaculate, fast and strong beauty !!!

Newly tuned, oil change and carburetor maintenance.
18000 original miles
I really hate to sell her.
As you can see, the bike isn’t perfect, but it appears to be in very clean, relatively original condition. The turn signals are obviously not stock and the rear fender has been removed, although it appears as though there are very few of the assorted scuffs and cosmetic imperfections you’d expect of a bike this age. Even if you’re not a fan of the green and white color scheme, it certainly makes a statement, and that original Muzzy exhaust system should make an authoritative bark to help you relive your misspent youth.
