2008 Ducati Desmosedici D16RR
Please tell me someone actually rides these things. Another extremely low mile Desmosedici is up for grabs. This particular bike is number 144 and has a whole 67 miles on her. The seller also states the bike as all updates. Can a Desmosedici owner out there give me some insight on what that refers to? The bike is listed as a classified and can be had for a cool $55,000. That price is not far off the mark compared with what the last couple of Desmosedici have sold for on Ebay. Unfortunately for me I’m still $54,000 short.
Take a peak:
With Rossi now signed, will the next verison of the Desmosedici have a big yellow 46 splashed on it and some crazy paint scheme? I don’t know about that but I’d find it hard to believe they wouldn’t do something special with Rossi on a Ducati, especially if he wins another championship. If you don’t feel like waiting for that bike to materialize you can purchase this one here.

How about $18,900 short?

Ian, no one rides these because they got screwed with allotment (Ducati kept producing larger numbers than previously pitched) and VERY high maintenance costs (engine out services) combined with known engine problems. This bike is going to go down as the prettiest lemon of the 21st century. $25k would be a fair price for the D16RR considering all of the absurd engine problems that affect an unknown number of them, and multi-thousand dollar services/repairs that will soon be out of warranty.
Expect to see A LOT of private D16’s on the market next summer as the owners faced with $30k depreciation and no warranty will be looking to get out.
[…] previously for sale). The price of these have been dropping like flies lately, which according to Dan’s comments, is because of known engine problems and very high maintenance costs. Which makes me wonder […]
Dan,
Interesting info. Do you know what the orginal number to be produced was supposed to be? Can you give any more deatails on what the engine problems actually are?
