From the RSBFS archives
In December of 2021, Donn posted an FZ750 here on RSBFS shedding some great wisdom about the FZ750, “Engineers from Iwata found an ideal solution to increasing intake flow and reducing valve mass and friction losses. Smaller valves made the 10,500 rpm feasible, with accessories built behind the crankshaft to keep the engine as narrow as any four. The head was angled forward at 45 degrees, making room for a set of 34mm Mikuni downdrafts under the tank. Weight distribution was just about optimal and a 16-inch front wheel was employed to sharpen the handling. Air-adjustable forks were an -80’s regular, and carried vented front disks. A full fairing would’ve been racier, but the supersport garb allowed the engine easier access to cooling air.”
That bike sold for $8,100 two years ago with 8,868 miles and in good shape.
This auction’s starting bid is $8,500 with 5 days left.
1,556 miles and it seems to be in great shape.

About this vehicle
This bike was bought by friend of mine for the intention of racing it, he never did get around to taking it too the track. He did fit a fork brace and an adjustable fox rear shock, he just let it sit in his garage until I convinced him to sell it after 20 years of pestering. I can’t ride it as the bars are to low and I’m to old, it needs to go too someone who will at least ride at weekends. I think this a probably one of the nicest survivors in the world, I’ve already been messed around by a couple of buyers who won the bid but didn’t follow through. With under 1600 miles and in factory condition this iconic Motorcycle will only keep increasing in value. I have been watching to see if any come up for sale and the last one was sold in 2021 for $9,000 with over 30,000 miles on the clock. Please ask any questions you might have. There are none on the market outside of Japan so getting a comparable is near impossible, only 3,000 of the 1985 built and the majority either totaled or lost too the racing fraternity.Seller’s Notes
I can crate the bike up for shipping worldwide for a minimum fee. It does have the original tires from 1985, so it will need a set of tires fitted if it’s going to be ridden. (Proof of the low mileage)Vehicle Details
Completely original, kept in a temperature controlled room, and runs like a top. I did do a full service, brakes, carbs and changed the fluids. This basically a new machine is ready for riding.
Check out the ebay listing to see more images and more details.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

I briefly had one of these many years ago, and it played a role in the ultimate demise of my first marriage, but that’s another story. I always loved these, in particular the next generation with the full fairing. And unmolested low mileage examples are pretty scarce these days.
It’s hard to believe they sold thousands of these, because I only see one for sale every 10 years or so. I bought one years ago that blew a little blue smoke and then got rid of it like a hot potato after confirming it was caused by the heads. I’m not sure if there’s anyone that can properly fix a 5-valve, but I don’t think it would have been cheap, nor was there any shop nearby me with the skill. These should be bulletproof, but mine must have been horribly abused,
Ok, I just saw this on Ebay and then automatically came here, so its not me. What I mean is, first year, with just under 1600 on the clock and as close to stock as you can find ’em, in this condition, whew! Let me start over, how often do you see one in this day and age, period. Ok, I see one everyday it sits in my garage (heated) #1109, 17k on the clock and its not this original, nor do you see them at all in my part of the world (N.East). This is a really great (as well as completely underappreciated) bike, it starts at the touch of the starter button. The maintenance intervals are miles and miles apart (18k) which is a statement as to the quality of engineering and reliability these bikes offer. If I didn’t have one already, this would be the one I’d buy. Enough said…
Have to agree, I rarely see a decent ’85-’86 pop up for sail. However plenty of GSXR’s and Interceptor’s. Although the GSXR was the big seller, I always thought the FZ was much more technically advanced. The 5 valve/45 degree Genisis engine, frame design, mass centralization gas tank/air box. Plus they looked so damn good!
sale not sail
Well it is bid up to $9,500 in one bid now. Hagerty values at $8,500 for #1 condition. What to do, what to do?
SOLD!!!!
10k…
