This 1983 Honda CX650 Turbo is said to have been originally donated by a Honda dealer to a boy’s club charity, and it later spent time in a Colorado collection of low-mile bikes before being acquired in 2020 by the seller, Honda CX Turbo restorer Greg Goss. It was recommissioned at that time with fluid changes and replacement of the battery. It is finished in red, white, and blue and is powered by a turbocharged 674cc V-twin linked with a five-speed transmission and an enclosed driveshaft. Features include 18″ and 17″ silver-finished ComStar “Boomerang” aluminum wheels, triple disc brakes, a two-up seat, electronic fuel injection, a linked two-into-two exhaust system, a full front fairing, and both side and center stands. This CX650 Turbo is now offered with a tool kit and a California title in the seller’s name.

When asked in the comments section if it was a runner or a museum piece, this was CX Turbos response, ” I thoroughly inspected this turbo as I do all that I receive. It was then prepped for actual running and driven “down the street” for a few miles to insure that all systems were dynamically working. Then it was decommissioned. The new Yuasa battery has not been activated. The fuel system was flushed and WD-40 added to fuel tank and fuel pump and fuel rail, etc. The brakes were flushed and a small amount of DOT5 added to keep things lubricated. It will not now be started. However, any purchaser can request that it be kept “pickled” or placed into full running service. I have done over 220 Honda turbos, so you can rest assured that everything will work!”
The CX650 Turbo was a one-year-only deal, 1983 and done, about 1,777 built. Honda took the CX platform, bumped it to 674cc, ran 19 psi through a two-stage turbo spinning past 20,000 rpm, and got 100 horsepower out of a shaft-drive V-twin that started life as nobody’s idea of a superbike. It was Honda’s last swing at the early-80s turbo craze, and the most sorted of the batch, revised fuel injection and a smoother boost curve than the CX500 Turbo that came before it.
That complexity is exactly why survivors are so rare. These were expensive, insurance companies hated them, and the fuel injection could turn into a real project once things started drifting out of spec. Most got ridden into the ground or parted out chasing electrical gremlins. A clean one is uncommon. One with eight miles and a recommission from an actual CX Turbo specialist is about as good as this model gets.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

Wow i think this is the cleanest I’ve every seen. My perception with the 500 cc version was that 2nd gear was problematic.
In first gear, the boost didn’t hit off the bottom of course. So a fair bit of clutch slip was needed to get all the weight rolling. Then the boost gauge would light up and launch you hard into the rev limiter. Rather violently. At that point you are panic shifting into second. Its a hard life for second gear. Because no human rider has that kind of anticipation and forethought.
i have for decades wondered what changes the 650 brought to that whiplash (2-stroke like) behavior. I think if the displacement added a bit to the bottom then smoothed that boost progression, all might be,.. better?
damn i need to go get serious about searching ridershare to see if i can buy a ride on one… because i don’t want to buy a bike.
