This 2004 Honda Dream CB50R is one of what is said to be 440 units produced, and was acquired new by the seller from DFW Honda in Grapevine, Texas. The bike is finished in silver with black pinstripes and equipped with a 49cc DOHC four-stroke single paired with a six-speed transmission. Features include a Keihin carburetor, a two-into-two exhaust system, an aluminum fender, a front number plate, clip-on handlebars, rear set foot controls, 18″ wire-spoke wheels, disc brakes, a solo seat with a tail cowl, and a side stand. This CB50R is now offered with factory literature, parts, and an off-highway Texas title in the seller’s name.

It’s hard not to post bikes that we find still in the crate. It’s like Christmas morning all over again.

According to Ben Branch at Silodrome, “Honda would produce the Dream 50R in extremely limited numbers, and unlike the road-legal Dream 50 version, the Dream 50R was strictly race only, and couldn’t be registered for road use (in most regions) as it lacked essentials like a headlight, taillight, blinkers, etc.

With its air-cooled single cylinder engine fitted with a double overhead cam, four-valve head, the Dream 50R produces a modest 5.6 bhp at 10,500 rpm with 3 ft lbs of torque at 8,500 rpm.

Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox and chain final drive, and the bike tips the scales at just 81 kilograms (180 lbs) dry.”

We watched the exciting end to an F1 Ducati that auctioned on BaT this week. It made lunchtime much more entertaining and I’m guessing that this auction will be another nail-bitter.
