2000 Bimota SB8R with only 1560 miles!
A reader found this nice, low mileage SB8R in Massachusetts. It looks unmolested and was probably the pride of someones garage with under 2000 miles on it. It has an upgraded set of Arrow exhausts but I don’t know if those are a full system or just end cans. This SB8R was fitted with Suzuki’s TL1000R engine but with a few tweaks by Bimota. It got Bimota’s own set of 59mm throttle bodies for the injection system. Have you ever seen a larger set of air scoops on a bike? I wonder if purists would rather have an Italian engine but I always thought it was cool that there were a lot of performance parts available for the Suzuki engine. I wonder if you can still get goodies for it from Yoshimura. The price seems reasonable ($11,888) and is slightly under the blue book for the bike. Here is what the seller had to say:
This is a very rare opportunity to own a piece of motorcycle artwork. All hand made in Italy, this Bimota was limited to around 100 per year! With only 1560 miles, this is an excellent opportunity to own an exotic motorcycle. Sale includes shop manual, Bimota Cover, original exhaust (bike has Arrow Carbon fiber upgraded exhaust.
The seller didn’t post many pictures so here is a visual and audio tease from Youtube.
I’d love to see some comments from Bimota enthusiasts on how the SB8R rates on desirability amongst them. At under $12,000 this SB8R seems like a nice way to get into an exotic hand built bike. I bet the best part of owning a Bimota is being able to make a group of Ducati guys turn their heads as you ride by! Check it out here.

These are actually pretty desirable . Between the TL1000 motor and all the carbon fiber, it’s hard not too desire it =). They can also keep up with contemporary bikes fairly well.
The price is reasonable for the mileage but personally I’d hold out and try and get my hands on the all black Special
The video you posted up is of my SB8r in my driveway! Sold it a couple of years ago. I have a couple of other Bimota’s and this was not my favorite to ride but it was by far the best to look at!!!
Earl, thanks for not asking for royalties! Why was it not your favorite to ride and may I ask did you get a similar price for the bike as this one is listed for?
Mr. Fizzlebottom, I give you credit for the screen name. I agree with you that the Special is a really good looking bike.
Mine did not fetch that much, but it had about 12k miles on it. I would say this one is in the ballpark just depends on if there is somebody that has to have it! Overall not a bad bike, I spent a lot of time sorting the fueling and still was not perfect.
If this sb8r has a vin number that ends in 12 it use to be mine. I came into some financial hardship in 2006. I had also just gotten over cancer and due to some family pressure to get out of motorcycling I sold it to the dealer (Dunbar Eurosports) who had originally sold it to me. About a year and a half later I was back on my feet and doing well and switched to Harley Davidson’s. I’m happy but getting rid of my bimota was one of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my 36 years of riding bikes and I’m only 43. My sb6r was a nightmare and full of issues but that sb8r was perfect and no matter where I went no one had the same bike I had. Chances are this isn’t mine because mine had about 7000 miles. I rode it and took very well care of it. If anyone wants a bike that is rare, exotic looking, fast and great handling this is it, even 10 years later. You just have to be careful because parts are also rare. I needed a brake switch once and it had to be custom made. Luckily I’m an electrical engineer and had access to the actual switch manufacture. So who ever ends up owning my bike or if this is it good luck because you will have a really nice motorcycle on your hands. Someone told be that Dunbar Eurosports still had it for sale but I was so emotionally attached to it I can not even walk into the dealership and look at it.
