Ducati Fever?
Is it me? Or have we seen a lot of Ducatis on the market lately? Whatever the Italians are doing, it is working because now I’m starting to think I need one.
This bright beauty is on Bring A Trailer with a current bid of $3,000. Bidding ends in 6 days and there are already over 10 comments on the auction.
Straight from BaT
“This 1993 Ducati 900 Superlight is one of a reported 300 examples allocated to the US market, and it was purchased by the seller on BaT in November 2021. Finished in yellow with a white trellis frame, it is powered by a 904cc L-twin paired with a six-speed transmission. Equipment includes multi-piece 17″ Marvic wheels, Mikuni carburetors, Brembo disc brakes, and adjustable Showa suspension with a piggyback monoshock as well as fully faired bodywork, clip-on handlebars, a black solo seat, a side stand, and fairing-mounted mirrors. Work in January 2022 included replacing the timing belts, tires, brake pads, fuel lines, battery, and drive chain as well as adjusting the valves and refreshing the fluids. This 900 Superlight shows 7k miles and is now offered with a tool kit, a service record, keys, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.”

Three years ago in January 2021 we had one of these on RSBFS and Mike gives a great introduction to why this bike is special.
“The move from analog to digital in the audio world brought with it clarity, reliability and portability. Many things now became possible, including loss-less copies, sharing and remote delivery. What was lost was not immediately clear – but soon became recognized as fidelity. As rudimentary and basic as it was, analog audio had tone; it had feeling and soul. The Ducati Superlight was a LOT like analog audio – it was bested in many categories of performance, reliability and value, but delivers a tonal note and visceral feel unlike anything more modern. The Ducati 900 SS Superlight is a rare and special bike that continues to be a collector – and rider – favorite.”
Good luck to the buyer and seller!
I like the vinyl analogy.
I’ve owned more bikes than I can remember (without a list in front of me) and that includes a 1995 SS/SP. Of ALL the bikes – that one – is the one I most regret selling. It wasn’t the fastest bike I’ve owned (by a long ways) it didn’t handle the BEST either… but what it lacked in technical performance, it more than eclipsed the others in rider ‘feedback/feel’ every time I “got it right” through a corner it just felt RIGHT… (get it ‘wrong’ and she’d tell you that as well !) Just loved that bike to death.
I don’t understand BaT. Practically every vehicle has been recently purchased with the seller then performing some work before flipping it a few months later. Hardly anything is long time ownership. No thanks.
Cool!
