Special limited edition of the FZR600 to celebrate Yamaha’s partnership with Vance & Hines in the AMA 600 Supersport class.
This is the 14th we have covered in the past 15 years. As Aaron stated on RSBFS in 2010, “The Vance & Hines Edition wasn’t special other than the commemorative scheme and V&H exhaust system. 1992 was also the last year for the square headlight design which only lasted for two years before Yamaha reverted back to the earlier, dual headlight, design that was so popular. If you’re a Yamaha collector, you should have one of these…”
Other than the wrong color rear wheel, it looks to be pretty clean.

Good luck to the buyer and seller!
Says in the BAT ad that the rear wheel is “Suzuki sourced”
@Sal – Thanks for that detail!
Wonder if the colors were a homage to “Smokin’ Joe” a sponser back then. Or were they V&H racing colors?
Love the FZRs, own a few, but that color scheme…ugh.
IIRC, These were the colors that Vance and Hines raced in the early 90’s. I believe Dave Sadowski won the 1990 Daytona 200 on a Yamaha with this color scheme.
Jamie james, colin edwards, eddie lawson. Yeah these were the color of THAT team. (For all you geezers like me!)
At that time i was working in a honda yamaha dealership where we had a leftover V&H model on the floor. FZRs were commodity bikes. This model had that extra AMA racing look. The other thing this bike came with (forgive my vague recollection) was a V&H gift certificatef for the add-on accessory of your choice. One of those was a slipon pipe. And yes that is why 99% of these bikes also had a slipon v&h pipe as this one does. The oter accessories were clothing items or maybe a tank cover. Not popular.
The other thing that distinguishes this bike from wll the other fzr6 models, was the front fairing with the single flush mount headlight. Very, very short lived on the sales floor. IIRC it lasted only a single year. I gotta say i prefered this to the ubiquitous fizzer with the dual headlights. I liked it so much i put it on my 1986 interceptor 500. That was a benefit of working at a motorcycle shop. My boss would let me order parts at cost plus 10%. Ah, the old days…
