SELLER
1986 Suzuki RG400 in exceptional condition, a clean and rare example by far. This RG is nearly all original with only a few minor updates such as solo seat cowl, added fuel valves and the lower belly pan which is aftermarket. The front wheel fender is also aftermarket, the rest of the body work is OEM and has been professionally resprayed to exact period specs. Very low miles for the year.
This RG400 runs amazing and would have no problem keeping up with a stock RG500, there were only subtle differences between the two models other than the larger bore size. Also, the apparent cost is nearly double between the two bikes, this mikes the RG400 a bargain which won’t last forever.
A full service was performed in March of 2023 which included new tires, full carburetor rebuilds and sync, and all fluids replaced.
The bike comes with the previous owner’s registration documents from the UK, it has never been titled or plated in the US so the new owner will have to check with their state’s titling requirements. “plates on bike are not included”
Overall, this is a great piece of two stroke history for the right enthusiast. Please feel free to message me with any questions you have.
This Gamma is also for sale locally; buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements.
According to be moto, “The lesser-spotted RG400 Gamma was the little brother to the RG500 Super Sports bike inspired by the 1984 500GP machine. It was only produced for the domestic Asian market, with 400cc bikes extremely popular in Japan at the time. Very few were ever exported on the grey market, none were produced specifically for export.”
This is only the second bike of this make/model/year/engine and color scheme that we have seen on RSBFS in 15 years… what a sight to see.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

My first street bike! Acquired when I was stationed in Greece courtesy of the USAF. Enjoyed it (put a tank bag and saddlebags on it, loaded onto a ferry and sailed across to Italy, then up the coast to Misano for the GP), but don’t miss it nearly as much as the 1989 Yamaha TZR250 (3MA) that I purchased with the drachma that I got from the sale of the Gamma. Something about the Suzuki blue/white color schemes just seems so right…
Ignore the seller’s claim that performance between the RG400 and RG500 is similar. It is not. RG400 is 59 HP and the RG500 is 95 HP.
This information is easily found, so it seems a bit baffling that the seller would make such a claim. The RG400 was JDM only and restricted for the JDM market.
The price seems high for an RG400 compared to previous sales, but perhaps that’s not a surprise given the overheated market over the past several years.
