• Mileage: 6,700 km (≈ 4,160 original miles)
• Condition: 100% original paint, bodywork, and exhaust – never modified, never abused, never dropped
This is a true time capsule survivor, a museum-worthy example that looks like it’s been kept under glass since 1983.

• Fuel tank soda-blasted, Caswell-lined, and fitted with a NOS Yamaha petcock & fuel cap
• Carbs rebuilt (gaskets, O-rings, seals) & synchronized; new UNI air filter
• Two-stroke oil system flushed, filled with Belray S7 injection oil, injection then bled
• New 520X gold O-ring chain installed
• Brand-new Bridgestone Battlax tires, mounted & balanced
• Complete brake system rebuild: front & rear calipers, master cylinders, DOT 4 flush
• New Zeeltronic CDI box installed & jetted perfectly with 240 mains
• Forks rebuilt, New Seals and Oil, suspension serviced
• Wheels detailed and professionally refinished
• Final step: full rotisserie detail, polished and waxed to perfection, minor touch up paint on frame, calipers repainted, exhaust repainted
70 hours of labor ($10,500) + $1,260 parts + tax = $11,760.00 Total Invested
The bike starts instantly, idles beautifully, revs crisply, looks, runs and rides like brand new.

Good luck to the buyer and seller!

Cylinders pre-lubed with proprietary penetrating oil
Any idea what that might be?
Yamaha was the first major manufacturer to ditch the 19 inch front wheel and go to 18″ Bikes like the RZ and the XJ600 offered levels of cornering performance that still give fits to bikes much newer. Very humbling to follow one. Harley Davidson could have fixed the Sportster a long time ago. The only way to put an 18 on a Sporty is to get spoke hubs and lace up a nice pair of rims. It IS worth doing.
A nice 350 however there are several 1979 CBX bikes begging for a buyer at this seller’s price expectation.Anyway different strokes for different people. Nonetheless good luck to the seller.
If it did have a bid earlier it isn’t showing that now. eBay shows no bids at this time.
Another case of one selling for a silly price at auction and now everyone wants silly money?
