Vintage 1974 John Player Special Norton
A Special 850cc Commando Factory Racer
With the exception of the original racing body work, this JPS Norton has had a nut and bolt restoration completed by SOLOMOTO in Greenwich, CT and is a fine collectors bike.
She has had tasteful upgrades with white alloys matching the look and a performance exhaust. Aside for two small blemishes on the original painted faring, and some minor non-original modifications, she is in excellent condition, starts, runs and drives well.
Frame number: 308969 (MKIIA). Photos upon request.
She is upgraded with white alloys wheels to match color scheme. She comes with the original wire wheels and the original exhaust. She also comes with clean and open title, no taxes.

Today we are reaching a bit farther back into the history of sportbikes. This Norton epitomizes more than life in the fast lane. This bike appeals to the sophisticated people in the passing lane, as shown in the vintage advertisement. You don’t just ride fast, for the sake of riding fast. You ride fast to live life, be in the moment, and yeah, to take the blonde out to dinner, lol. (See the ad in the gallery or click to see the ebay listing.)
Jess commented on one of our previous Norton posts, “This Norton and the ’82 Suzuki Katana had me wondering what planet they came from when I first saw them. Both had designs ahead of their time and have aged very well.” I had to add this comment since yesterday we posted an ’82 Katana.
Many more photos are on the ebay listing. Looks like a nice restoration. Enjoy!
