The 2006-07 model was the second generation of the CBR1000RR, with many updates and lighter weight than the 2004-05 model. The second-gen Fireblade had a new head with double intake valve springs, revised ports, and 12.2:1 compression, a slight increase. Minor decreases in steering head rake and front axle trail were part of a sharper-handling new chassis. Brake disks are 10mm larger but thinner and lighter as a result. Thinner radiators and some magnesium covers helped bring a 17 lbs weight reduction overall. Evolutionary changes to the fairing don’t mess with the original wicked-good looks.

Authenticity can be a concern when limited editions come to market, especially in a very catchy and often dubbed graphics package. Along with the plant code in the VIN, the silver frame, blue metallic seat fairing, a low serial number is one way to know. My overnight research indicates that this bike’s 00113 has a better chance of being the real thing, though hopefully a knowledgeable reader will chime in with the total production.
