1986 Suzuki GSXR-750 Limited Edition on eBay
By now we all know the market for vintage GSXR-750s is red hot. This listing is already reflecting that with 17 bids pushing it past $8000 with several days still to go. Just one year after the first GSXR-750 revolutionized the sport bike world, the Limited Edition raised the bar even further. Production numbers are a frequent subject of debate, but the general consensus is between 500 and 1000 made with just 199 reaching the U.S. dealerships. The Limited Edition was a significant upgrade from the standard model, featuring a close ratio transmission with a dry clutch, electronic “anti-dive” technology, bigger forks and front brakes from the GSXR-1100, a fiberglass solo seat and special paint and graphics.
The seller is upfront about the condition, and while it’s not quite “showroom” quality, it would make an excellent starting point for a restoration or *gasp* a really nice classic rider. You can check it out on eBay right here: 1986 GSXR-750 Limited Edition
1986 Suzuki GSXR 750 Limited edition. This is a very rare bike. 500 to 1000 made, depending on who you talk to. I’ve owned this bike 10 years. I bought it, rode it for 4 miles, everything worked as it should. I put the bike into storage until now. It will need tires, a battery, and a full service. The bike is very clean. The upper front fairing has been repaired and painted. The muffler heat shield has a scrape on it. The wheels have been painted white. As far as I can tell, the rest of the paint is original and in very nice condition. With a servicing and a little cosmetic work, this bike would be near perfect. Overall it is in excellent condition.. Production date is 3/86. 7183 original miles. I have a NOS. foam gauge bracket , red Suzuki decal for upper front fairing, and an air filter. New after market Lockhart Phillips smoke wind screen, bubble headlight cover., and very rare supplementary service manual, and a microfiche card for the limited edition.
does anyone know what these sold for new back in the day?
$6,499
Beautiful
I would love to put this one into the collection. Already 9100, suspect it will hit 15K+ like the last one I was watching. These classic bikes are demanding some pretty significant $ recently….about time Bikes get some support!
Looks like it has had a low speed RHS down as evidenced by the exhaust and shield and upper fairing repair. Front antidive and calipers have also been apart. having said that it looks pretty clean and mostly original. Good luck to the seller.
Nice Gixxer . Does anyone have some decent advice to offer me ? Though a Honda V-4 guy I have been offered a 1986 GSXR750 first year I believe they came to Canada here . The bike does not run and the guy wants $500 CDN for it (basically $400 US) . The plastics are all beaten up . I actually believe the engine is apart . It is the black/red color scheme . One friend and former owner told me it would get very nasty expensive to restore and or flip it . Any positive suggestions or should I just run for the hills ? Thanks in advance for any advice . Cheers, – RC30FREAK
These 2 circle headlights bikes looks great to me. But where are Kawas ZX7R 91-94 single seat? I haven´t seen one for sale for a long time.
RC30freak: I’ve owned four of them and could offer much practical, helpful, and useful advice. But instead, let’s open a discussion on why MotoGP riders dangle their legs off in corners. When did it start? Why do they do it? And why did riders start dragging their knees? Why do they drag their elbows? Why didn’t Mike Hailwood hang off? Did Duke not hang off either? Discuss.
Because they either did or didn’t want to.
And when do they start drag their elbows?
Sixth , I thought you were cool . Now you are just being an ass(bag) ! See now here I am on topic and you are going on a rant about a previous post here . One could be lead to believe you have some sort of split personality disorder . For all your intelligent posts here you are really coming off as a crouton de ville ! You should redirect some of that pent-up frustration on something positive .
BTW my post about the hanging off generated a great stimulating discussion . You should have just stuck to giving me some positive advice instead of sullying your rep. Anyways who am I to teach you etiquette if you haven’t already learned it by now. Have a nice life !
This bike would be a nice addition to any collector. The only problem is the dry clutch. I haven’t come across anyone yet who has found a viable solution. OEM parts are gone, and it seems like the guys in the know are shrouded in mystery. Could be mint with some work, assuming there’s no surprides with the running gear.
