The GS knows the answer: a very straight line. Give it a few miles of straight, open highway, rotate your right wrist and enjoy.
Some call this engine the equivalent to the small block Chevy. They have been modified in every manner possible through the years and it sounds like you still have a good choice of after market parts.
Suzuki was milking every last dime from the Katana. The GS has some subtle styling cues from it.
Not a whole lot of info on the bike but it appears to be completely stock and low mile (13,006).
From the seller:
1983 Suzuki gs1100e Superbike. The bike that is the heart of suzuki’s legendary performance from drag racing to road racing.
A very fine example of a 1980’s superbike. The bike is in very good condition and VERY original from the grips to the stock exhaust.
The seat is original (no tears!) Very rare for this model. The bike runs perfect with tracktor like torque. Every thing works as stock.
Very rare to find one this clean with low miles.
Own a piece of superbike history!
Put your big boy pants on, there is no fairing to protect you.

I rode a bike very similar to this (in blue) about 20 years ago. Was having an awesome time right before the highside… Hospital, wrist surgery, etc.
The Wes Cooley replica in the background of the first pic is the bike that should be on this page!
Uh oh, here we go again with the bike in the background. The seller might not know what he is in for!
Wonder if the bike in the background is for sale?? I think the GS is a great bike, no frills, no excess bodywork to maintain, plenty of power, good ole bike.
GS1000S Wes Cooley! Want!
Mine has mods to make it work a LOT better–shocks, brakes, exhaust, while all looking stock. I let an “friend” ride it and he tucked the front in a straight line. And he magically disappeared from my life and never volunteered to do a damn thing to fix it. I’ve got the original pipes in storage with 100 miles on them.

Before spending the money on a Cooley, which i consider to be one of the best looking bikes of the 70’s, buy a regular 79 1,000 and paint it. There were no mechanical differences.
Hold out for a blue one.
