Parts Bin: 1997 Aprilia RS250 Titled Roller
Who’s got an RG500 engine sitting in the garage awaiting a chassis for a conversion project? If you do, here is your chance to snag a nice, titled rolling RS250 chassis to get your project to the next stage.
Now don’t go break the piggy bank open just yet. Do your homework first. Each builder or backyard engineer has their own take on how to stuff a RG500 engine in a 250cc chassis. Some cut a little here, others weld a little there, so make sure it is something you can work with.
The info:
1997 Aprilia RS250 rolling chassis for sale. The chassis has an Oregon title and registration for street use. Comes with Ohlins shock, Maxton re-valved forks. This bike was modified to accept a Suzuki RG500 motor but would be suitable for other project motor swaps such as Banshee as done by TTS.
A have a feeling there will be a bit of a bidding war towards the end of this auction due to the title. If a RSBFS reader wins the auction I want to see pictures of the project!

There is alot missing that’s purely a frame n some body work suspenion n wheels bout all there is there. Plus the lower bolt on frame cradle is not orginal. Your looking at a 1500 roller at max titled or not!
^^^Your comments make no sense- this bike IS there as presented and shown. What exactly is missing that’s not described? The motor, carbs, airbox, exhaust, electrics, chain are gone- making it a near ideal project for a Banshee motor transplant. Yes, the lower motor/frame mounts are fabricated for an RG500 motor, but that’s easily removed. “A lower bolt on frame cradle is not original”. So what? This roller has a TITLE- hello!
And, yes, the tail section bodywork is missing, but that’s not that hard to source from the AF1 forums. You really thing this bike “is only worth $1500 max titled or not”? Disagree.
At anything more than $1800 and my concern is that if a larger/heavier RZ500/RG500/NS400 (all 90lb motors) was going into the chassis, the shock and forks will need either replacing or reworking for the new weight and weight bias.
Good clean starting point, but the title only adds so much value in light of the total cost of a hybrid.
This a Rick Lance(lance gamma) modification so i’am sure a RG 500 motor will fit just fine!!! Knowing Rick, bet he’s got a nice gamma motor he would be glad to sell ya too 🙂
But like already said, The US title will sell it!!! And knowing EBay watch it go for crazy money 🙂
