Red, white and blue in all it’s Japanese glory! Asian American fusion at it’s finest.
The CB1100F hits a sweet spot for Rare Sportbike fans. Though it was not made in limited numbers, there are not many survivors and it is a time capsule that will turn heads all day, any day, anywhere.
The internal debate seems to be whether the bike is original enough to increase in value? Or will you spend too much money trying to bring the bike back to it’s proper form?
RSBFS readers were having this conversation with themselves back in 2017 when one popped up on ebay with a BIN or $6,900. Joe commented, “The blue one has the wrong chrome exhaust. Black chrome on the red one unobtainium. So the price difference is understandable. Given it sold this morning for BIN ($6,900) at least one buyer sees the value in NOS tank, sport kit footrests and dead clean engine with proper maintenance. This bike was well bought as in a few years will be 5 figures. Just wished I had acted sooner.”
Red sent me this link to post and then took the kids to school so I’m left wondering if this specimen is a deal of the century? Joe predicted these would be worth 5 figures by now.
This past March one sold on BaT for $12,750 – so Joe’s prediction was correct. The question, as always, is about the particular bike being sold. Are we looking at a great deal? Or is there something wrong here?
Good luck to the buyer and seller!
