Update 5.27.2014: Last seen in October of last year, this CB1100R has been given a $2k (CAD) price drop. Links updated. -dc
Generally speaking, RSBFS doesn’t publish works in progress or bikes missing major pieces. Occasionally, we break that rule when we find something worth finishing. This CB1100R is one such bike. With 40,233 miles on the clock, it is not a museum queen. This is a bike that has been ridden, like it should. As a result, there is some wear and tear and some worn bits that you might need to address. Given that this is a rare bike, it may well be worth the effort.
From the seller:
Super rare in North America and pretty rare elsewhere also, one of only approx 1050 ever built and the rarest of all the CB1100R’s Homologation bikes
Engine and frame numbers suggest that it is a mid production bike and are close enough to believe original
purchased in France and imported to Canada (not currently registered) but with all required documentation (original French registration in my name, official Canadian import papers in my name)
Its not perfect but there are some of us want to ride not polish and this one fits the bill
From the seller:
The good bits
mostly original with genuine mileage just over 40K miles 64K in kms
paint although not perfect looks pretty good
The RB shares more parts with the CB range than the later models
and if you want perfection I have a contact who can provide all the parts to restore to showroom condition
and it runs great
From the seller:
The not so good bits
a lack of silencers well it did have some but they were from a cb900 and rotten but the downpipes are original!!!
the fairing has been doctored (unfortunately!) it is original and the finish is excellent but the only conclusion I can come up with regarding the headlight is that it was damaged and replaced but as an original was not available a substitute was made
this and the rest of the paintwork was completed by a Honda dealership in France the decals are not lacquered in which is good news as they are not well applied
there is a flat spot on the starter motor, (I just installed new brushes so it may improve)
and the rear master cylinder is seized
there is some damage to the cylinders in an attempt to remove them broken fin and pry damage
and the paint on the frame and motor could do with refinishing
will need a full service
This bike is located across the border in Canada, and the current bid is still under $3k USD. The auction is being run in Canadian currency, however the exchange rate is nearly 1:1 between the US and Canada reducing the potential monetary confusion. For more info and pictures, click the link and jump over to the auction. Good luck, eh?

I’d run away from this one, far and fast.
Response to 6th gears comment, as the seller of the bike, I wonder on what basis your comment is made or are you just trolling, the bike is not perfect but please show me one that is and within reach of us mere mortals in terms of price, the description I feel is accurate and the reserve is in reach of most of us this is the second CB1100r I have listed in the last few months and the last one was rough by comparison and it sold and the new owner has already purchased parts for the restoration, I could have parted both bikes out (made more money) and then there would be two less on the road and the parts would have gone to those with deep pockets to sit on a shelf somewhere, some of us me included don’t have the funds to buy a perfect example but in time and with effort can end up with one, and if you really believe that all these bikes displayed here have an entirely spotless history especially the race bikes then I would take your advice on them all
well said Jason
Yeah 6th Gear let’s hear why you are potty mouthing this particular bike . Enlighten us on why one should avoid it .
I personally agree with Jason & Lee . As a former RC30 owner they are rare enough . A CB1100R on this side of the pond ….nearly unobtanium . So it needs some stuff . Also the 1100R engine very solid tough engine . These bikes were the stuff of dreams when we were teenagers . Good luck with the sale Jason .
Thank you Lee & RC30FREAK for your kind comments
I made the effort to import the two CB’s knowing they are a rarity over here, I was intending doing the restorations to both but times are tough, so I have to thin out my collection of imperfect bikes, including a scruffy RC30 and some 80’s Suzuki’s, I count myself lucky to have had the opportunity of owning these bikes that I could only dream of when younger, all of them are for riding and give me great pleasure, I consider myself a rider before a collector
I am still pretty cautious on the RC it maybe scruffy but it was still expensive for my budget!!!!
Jason, don’t take it personal, 6th said he’d run, not that everyone should. If you are familiar with his posts, he has a very discriminating eye, is evidently quite knowledgeable, but typically only vocal when the offering is less than premium turn-key investment grade. (FYI 6thgear, I’ve never read a positive comment in any of your posts, but I always find your perspective informative.)
I personally enjoy the variety of this site and love to entertain the dreams of ownership that can be fulfilled with a little resourcefulness and elbow grease. Additionally, this bike is a bit before my time, so reading different comments on it is extremely helpful, so thank you, Lee and RC30FREAK also.
HI Apehangar
I was upset to see his comment, and anyone is welcome to come and see the bike in the flesh and judge for themselves,
I was please to get a mention on this site, but it is called raresportsbikesforsale not collectors corner isn’t it?, but he is correct that wrench & ride shy investors should stay away,
I must be getting old when I hear “Premium turn key investment grade” applied to these bikes especially when they are younger than me! and I am only selling through lack of work, perhaps I should rewrite my CV/resume to include “Premium turn key investment grade Carpenter for hire” ha ha
I should also raise my reserve as this CB maybe the last to ever be seen on the road in North America priceless 😉
Thanks for all the comments
Jason
Dear Jason,
I have a 1983 CB1100RD in New Zealand. You say you have a contact in Europe who can help with spares. I need some parts. Can we speak please.
Good luck with the sale. Yes, the bike needs some TLC, but it is basically all there. They do turn heads and are only getter rarer.
Shaun
“Collectors Corner”,….now that would be an interesting website,…..
….or,”Middle Upper-Class Sportbikes For Sale”
….Anally Retentive Sportbikes For Sale…….
Flux Capacitor = not very bright , nothing interesting to say , not original , and an antagonistic worm to boot . Anyone agree with me here ?
……breep,breep,breep,……

Jason,
Its basically all there, Definately a chance to own an appreciating piece of motorcycling history that will always turn heads. I like to monitor resale prices of these classic Hondas and yours looks a great opportunity for a lucky purchaser. Good luck with your sale.
I also have an CB1100RD and if you could help with an exhaust system or owners manual please let me know.
