Up for grabs today is a 1999 Suzuki GSX-R 600 with a claimed link to Matt Mladin. This bike, you see, is purported to have been Matt’s practice machine in the lower classes prior to jumping up to SuperBike. You might have heard of this Matt guy. He won seven AMA titles before retiring in 2009. Along the way he picked up records for race wins in a season, poles in a season, outright race wins as well as outright poles. Ex race bikes with documentation bring the money, and if this one checks out it could be an interesting piece of history.
1999 Ex Matt Mladin Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R600 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
1999 Suzuki GSXR
Complete factory built Yoshimura motorcycle
Authenticity by Yoshimura Race Coordinator and signed on Yoshimura letterhead.
Built for World Champion Mladin to ride as practice bike in 1999 before moving up to Superbikes
Gixxer 600s are not expensive motorcycles. I cannot tell if the $8,500 OBO price tag on this particular example is based on the Yoshimura build or the Mladin history. Possibly it could be some of both. It’s hard to put a price on history, and as this does not appear to be the actual racebike ridden by Matt but rather a practice machine, that could limit its value. It is also not clear as to how original this bike might be. Why were lights added if it was only a track bike? Regardless, this is an interesting piece. We would love to hear what our readers think about formerly owned/ridden by famous personalities. Does it add to the value? Let us know!

What’s with the lights? 99 SRADs are meant to have a big single headlight.
Pretty expensive! I bought Jamie Hacking’s Graves R6 for $3,000 and Jason Pridmore’s Yoshimura formula extreme bike for $5,000. They both were great bikes and worked without a hitch for many track days.
I’m curious, what World Championship did MM win?
I know he raced in 500’s & a little WSB but he never won a championship in them.
I’m still unsure about this bike, if the seller got this simple “fact” wrong, how can you trust the certificate. The certificate is very easy to create.
His first name is spelled Mat, not Matt with two “t’s”. See the letter for example.
