SELLER
For sale is my 89 Kawasaki KR1S, Sad to see her go but it’s time to make some room for other toys.

*The OE power valves are one of the weak spots on these bikes Carbs rebuilt and resynced BDK dogbone link kit new power valve motor coolant flush and new silicone radiator hoses
Jolly Moto pipes
DNA filter with modified factory air box
Blue AFAM chain 1 tooth smaller front sprocket oil injection delete(runs on premix)
Nitron adjustable rear shock valved for 190-lb rider Gauge cluster serviced due to warnig lights not functioning and tachometer not working(works now)
Zeeltronic programmable ignition with 2-map switch
Cosmetic upgrades/other accessories/spares: Solo tail(on bike), Flourescent yellow windscreen from UK, Domino blue grips, oem seat cowl, seat and side panels ,OEM exhaust with ZEP silencers, Sigma jet kit complete gasket and seal kit, spare plugs repair manual
Bike is overall in great shape and has some minor cracks on the bodywork and the top of the tank has one spot that will eventually need paint otherwise she still runs good, although she’s getting a little blow-by and I would recommend a rebuild/reseal soon, if I were to keep her I would be sending the crank out and have the top end freshened up as well.
With the proper tuning and some bigger carbs/upgraded pistons you could see close to 70hp at the tire with this set up. These don’t come up too often in the USA and I want to see her go to a good home no matter where she ends up!
RSBFS
The KR-1S rarely shows up in the US, and it was never officially sold here. This one came over from the UK in 2017 and has been properly sorted since: BDK billet power valves (a known weak spot), full brake overhaul, Zeeltronic ignition, Jolly Moto pipes, Nitron shock. Real parts, real money.
The catch is the motor. Seller’s upfront about the blow-by, which is appreciated. Factor a rebuild into your number before you call.
Mike gave us the history when he posted one on RSBFS in 2014, “When it comes to rare, imported smokers, the Kawasaki KR-1 series is a hidden gem. While the world rides around on NS-Rs, RZs, RGs, RGVs and the like, few KR-1 models seem to come up for sale. Definitely the most unknown of the quarter liter two strokes, the KR-1 is a basic parallel twin following in the footsteps of the early 250cc RG…..With the supply of KR-1 and KR-1S limited, these continue to be sought after models by collectors.”
Would you sort the motor first or ride it into the rebuild?
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

That has real potential, just need to sort that wind screen for starters.
