Dressed in what most consider a very attractive color scheme, we have a mostly original 98 Yamaha R1 for sale in Texas with just 4700 miles. This color combo always seems to make potential buyers wonder why they didn’t buy one the first time around when they were originally launched. If you’re in that category you may be in luck as this bike represents a very low mileage opportunity. While the aftermarket pipe isn’t optimal, the original is available with sale. This one looks stock otherwise. While $8500 might seem a bit on the high side, it won’t be long before this is commonplace with this revolutionary model.

1998 Yamaha R1 For Sale on eBay
quote from seller’s listing:
this is the rare one red and white with super low miles. you just wont find another one in
this condition. I gaurantee it. its been stored the majority of its life.never droped never abused
super clean. has an after market pipe but i still have the original one.
mine ! i call it! yes, 2nd time listed on ebay, yes the color scheme, year and miles are all xlnt and not to be missed. we had an identical bike down here in sd last winter go for 5 grand though…
Thankfully he still has the original pipe, that shorty makes the bike look like Doonise from SNL….
Historically significant bike, more so than the cbr900rr in 1993 as it was the first liter bike in a 600cc chassis which really changed the game, and fastest of the early bikes in a rare color. They will have their day, its all condition …… good luck to the seller!
What a fantastic looking bike. I always loved these. I would love to buy this thing. Maybe I will… Honeyyyyy,,,have you seen the check book? I hate this site
Yawn.
Ok. Great bikes at face value (not $8500+ great though), but it was NOT the watershed that the CBR900RR was. That’s laughable. Just another in a series of machines where every year or two somebody else put out the latest and greatest.
I agree. The 900rr was a much bigger impact on the segment. The r1 carried the flag after the 900rr was getting long in the tooth. The 929/954 never really marched the r1’s success.
ARG…I dont know why I torture myself with this blog every day…
One day ill have a 93 CBR900RR red/white/blue and a 98 R1 red/ white. They’ll probably be $15k each when I’m in a position to buy though…
